Trouble child and teacher at my daughter's school

Honey, I would be camped out on the vice principal's doorstep. Get your dr's note.. go ahead and submit one for this year. Not just for next year. Speak to the nurse and the vice principal, especially after you have the note from the doctor. Explain that your daughter's needs are not being met..

Now as for the bullying.. again, the area of the vice principal. Most schools have a no bullying tolerated policy. So if you bring it to their attention, take pics of the bruises, document each episode. And show up each time there is an episode.

Public school is a huge place.. and it is easy to fall into the cracks. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, and in this case it is your job to be your child's advocate. She is being subjected to a huge amout of social ridicule if she is having accidents and is having to change, even once a month! I would also have her see the school counselor to give her an outlet to discuss being teased by the other kids for this.

In any event, go to the school. Every other day if you need to. It is your job to make sure that her needs are being met.

I would be there every single day. I worked at a school and I saw some pretty humiliating things done to little kids that simply could not help it. . .my 8 year old has THREE kids in his class that are horrible kids, and the principle deliberately put them in his class with his teacher because HIS wife is other class teacher. Do I smell conflict of interest or favoritism here. I think so. He said they all "requested" our teacher, and she told me she knew better than that. I am so sorry for your little girl . . .that is so bad to have the problem, and then to be treated with such utter disrespect is just terrible. I would talk and talk and bring in paperwork from your medical people, talk to the school board, write a letter EVERY month to the school board if it isn't addressed in the right way. . .if that didn't work, and i know this is extreme, call your regional supt. of schools and tell them what is going on. They probably won't be able to do anything as its more of a political job than anything, but just knowing THEY know might put a spark under someone. Good luck and please keep us posted as to the outcome.

Have you talked to the principle about this? how long has this been allowed to go on? poor kid!

I am a teacher and hate that I am not allowed to let students go when they need to. My principal came and fussed at me and the students about too many restroom visits. Now we go at certain times. I do know who has issues and I do let them go when they need to. I am sorry for what you and your daughter have had to endure.

As long as you have a copy of her Drs. letter stating that she has a medical issue that requires her to be able to use the restroom whenever she needs to the school has to follow that letter. It has to be on file in the nurses office, in the school office, and in the teacher's records. If that is done, and it is not followed then you have a leg to stand on in your complaint. You need to follow the chain of command and speak to the teacher, the school nurse, and the principal in that order. That can all be done within 15 minutes of one morning at the school. If it is not resolved to your satisfaction then you go to your school main office and ask to speak to the superintendent.
I try to look at cases like this from both sides, because I've been on both sides. I had a mom about 3 years ago send me a letter stating her daughter had a UTI and needed to use the restroom frequently. I said fine, I'll allow her to do that but please fax the Drs. note to the school nurse so that it is on record because we do have specific times to use the restroom, the whole school is on a schedule. She got mad at me and went straight the superintendent accusing me of not allowing her "desperately" ill daughter to use the restroom! She was asked for the Drs. note there too.
I'm sorry you've run into this trouble, it's hard on the kids when they have health issues that are public and they have to get up and leave a classroom to go to the bathroom more often than the others. Children can be cruel, they learn it from adults.

did you have a letter or note from your daughters doctor, stating her specific medical issue sent to the schools principal, nurse and teacher?
Where I live that is the only way to get this type of "special" treatment for a child. Has to be in writing and HAS to be from the childs doctor. A note from a parent will not do.

Also. If talking to the teacher about the other child and the bruises your daughter is getting from him is not helping, then you have to step up to the principal as well. If something still is not done, then you go to the school superintendent and board.

The teachers have enough to deal with during the school day. They are not responsible for parenting the kids in the classroom. and many times their hands are tied when it comes to what they can or can not do in the classroom.

also, maybe putting her in those "good nights" things would be in order. Just in case. ya know?

My cousin had this same problem when we were kids. She did outgrow it around 12 or so. Field trips were awful. She would wear a pad on them even in elementary school in case the bathrooms were to far away. My Aunt had to call the principal one year because she had a teacher like your daughters that wouldn't let her use the bathroom when she needed to. I remember it was so embarassing for her. She was also my best friend so I remembering having to stick up for her a few times. I wish you luck with your daughter and maybe a note from the Dr. to the school office so future teachers are aware and willing to work something out for her. Also do not assume the teacher knows what that boy is doing to her, call her and let her know he is bulling her. My oldest son went thru this and the teacher did not know. After I talked to him it stopped.

In elementary school one time I had a teacher that specificall disliked me. I asked if I could use the bathroom and he said no. About a minute later my friend asked if she could, and he said yes. When she returned i again asked if I could go to the bathroom, and again he said no. I don't remember anything being done, but I agree with the other posters, contact the principal to see if she/he can do anything to help with the situation; maybe they will allow admittance to the bathroom for her.

Umm has she seen a specialist in urology? it sounds like she needs a specilaist. there is something wrong if she cannot hold it for a reasonable length of time. Her teacher however needs a kick especially if she knows there is a problem. the poop thing also. Normally 7 yolds can hold this for a little bit anyway. sometimes the poop thing is pyschological also for a number of reasons. Get her to a specialist if you have not already. ErinM

When I was in high school there was a girl who kept getting bladder infections because teachers wouldn't let her go when she had to. She got a note from the doctor and the matter was taken up with the principal. She was given a perminate (spelled wrong i think) hall pass that was laminated.

If the teacher isn't doing anything go straight to the principal. If they won't do anything go to the superintendant. GL.
