I just realized something! My eggs go into lockdown in two days!!!!!!!



However since we know have so many chicks we're pretty much out of brooder space.... :/

Dan, I don't know what it is other than some giant gourd, and it sure is giant! The picture doesn't do it justice.

Ever so close to ducks...found some true ducks today! I'm going to try to come backand get some or maybe hatching eggs.

There was geese too...

Ah. I'm sure it doesn't.

I'm not sure :/ There are only eleven that are still alive and they may not all hatch so I don't really a big area and we have lots of good size cardboard boxes it's just a matter of where to put it and heating. :/ I probably wouldn't have set if I'd realized there were going to be so many chicks. Then there's also the set that's going into lockdown a week later though I'm considering seeing if Big Mama will adopt them since they're set to hatch at the same time. (If she wasn't in a small box I'd just give her all those eggs, I've seen her cover 20 (actually she was setting on 22 but could cover 20 comfortably) but the max that box will hold is about a dozen. :/ Like I said I wouldn't have set if I'd known we were gonna have 200 chicks.

That's a good idea, probably the best way to go! I hope whatever you decide to do works out!

Yeah! I don't know if I'll get geese yet...but they were so pretty...and mom liked em.

Yeah. Thanks me too. I'll probably talk to my sister when she get off work. I am really interested in seeing what I get though, my first batch was 14 blacks and 4 blues and my second batch was 3 blues 2 blacks and a Pekin but I had a black Swede drake then, I sold him in January so it should mostly be the blue Swede, the Mallard and the Pekins this time since it's was a little over a month since I sold him when I set.


Lol. Just tell her they almost always make good flock protectors (even better than Roos)

Yeah, I wonder if there will be a lot of blues instead of black.

Yes, Big Mama has a very small crest, Lord farquack (original Pekin drake) does too and then there is Princess Leia. My Mallard and Blue Swede drakes have crests too. The black Swede did not so I'm hoping the ducklings I got while he was here won't carry it. Oh and my Pekin duckling has one.

The kits are a week old today.

One of Granny's kits, they're all about this size.

One of Angelica's kits, the biggest one. It's not as big as Granny's are, Angelica is mostly Flemish, Granny is pure New Zealand. They were bred to the same buck.

And of course I couldn't not get a pic of all of them.
