Soft wind rustled the grass above ground.Cat's snoring and rustling in there moss nest were heard softly.Underground, Many queens and kits slept.Four in particular.A silver queen was wrapped around a black kit.Suddenly, her head raised in alarm, a ginger queen next to her shot her head up Aswell."What do your think it is, Heatherflame?"The silver SheCat asked."I know all to well, Silverclaw,"Heatherflame hissed, and got up, her two kits squeaked.A white SheCat got up, but Silverclaw stopped her.The two SheCat raced out of the den,"FernClan attack!"they screeched,"Hawkface, Ferrowpelt guard the nursery!"they screeched as the shot above ground,"FernClan attack!"Silverclaw yowled.A Large orange tabby raced out of the den, and a FernClan warrior hit her and she battled fiercely.

Crowkit crept underneath his father's legs, Nettlekit and Lilykit beside him.He stared in awe.Suddenly, His mother screeched, flying backyards and landing with a thud.The FernClan warriors retreated and he raced out,"MOM!"he screeched, burying his nose in her fur,"Mom...Mom!"His mother's breaths came in shallow gasps, And Ferrowpelt stood over his son, his eyes wide.Silverclaw's eyes where wide and begging and love.Flamestar appeared beside her,"Move, Ferrowpelt.Her times over and I will end her suffering,"she murmured.Ferrowpelt moved back, Holding his son close, he watched as Flamestar raised her paw, and gave Silverclaw a blow to the throat, to end her suffering.A loud, ear splitting, blood freezing, air stopping echoing screech sounded across the clearing with a single word."NOOOO!!!!!!"


Chapter 1

Playful mrrows of laughter yelped in front of him.A sleek black Tom lay in the clearing of camp, his head low.Crowpaw lay his head on his front paw's, unsure of what to do.His tail lashed slightly as he tried to stop tears from seeping out of his eyes.It had been two moons since her father was murdered, but he couldn't get over the fact that he would never see Ferrowpelt again.Ferrowpelt raised Crowpaw since he was 3 moons old, when his mother, Silverclaw was murdered.Crowpaw snapped his head up as a kit bumbed into him,"Watch it!"He hissed, leaping up.He realized it was Nettlekit,"Oh, sorry Nettlekit,"He murmured."I didn't realize it was you,"He meowed.Nettlekit gave a tiny squeak,"It's ok, Crowpaw!Its really my falt, Lilypaw, Rabbitkit and I were playing and I tumbled over and hit you,"She squeaked.Crowpaw chuckled,"It's alright,"He meowed.He followed Nettlekit back to where they were playing.He purred and nuzzled Lilypaw.


Crowpaw sighed as he trotted along the woods.Hawkclaw was leading a patrol and Crowpaw padded next to him.The black Tom looked out across the trees.He shook his head and tensed.He dropped on all fours, and creeped forward.He saw a mouse scuffling along the ground, darting here and there, looking for seeds.Crowpaw crouched and crawled slowly, He pin-pointed the mouse's position, crouched and lept.He gave the mouse a swift bite to the neck and it barley had time to squeak.Crowpaw buried it, and padded up to Pinepaw,"Nice catch, Crowpaw!"The red SheCat mrrowed."Thanks,"Crowpaw muttered."Come on Crowpaw lightin' up already!"she hissed and stalked away to Sorrelpaw,"Toms!"She hissed.Blackpaw pricked his ears,"HELLO!Im right here and so is Crowpaw!"He growled."Anycat find anything?"A voice yowled as a SheCat and a Tom lept over a bush."Reedfeather!Smokesong!"Pinepaw lept up,"Crowpaw found a mouse and Maplepaw caught a Thrush!"She meowed proudly.
Lilypaw dropped to the ground, as smirk crossed her face, she crept toward the tree.She saw a squrriel nibbling on a nut.Quiet as ever, she dug her claws into the massive tree, clawing upwards, she reached the branch the squrrel was on.She lept, a bird sounded the alarm and the squrriel took of.Lilypaw's leg's slid out behind.A screech split the air as she slipped and fell.Crowpaw, lept, his paws out stretched,"LILYPAW!!!!"Smokesong shrieked.Lilypaw fell to the ground with a thud.Crowpaw landed on his paws beside her, as Lilypaw lifted her head."Mrrow!"She hissed, crawling to her paws, holding a foot in the air."Lilypaw, your hurt!"Crowpaw meowed.His head jerked up as he heard yowling.A stench hit the roof of his mouth, he froze, fur bristling, hackles raised and claws glinting in the sun,"Lilypaw.Behind me.NOW,"He hissed, eyes flashing as he lept in front of her.The heather broke open as Brokenpaw raced through, yowling,"FOX!FOX!FOX!!!!"She shrieked.
The fox broke out into the open, snarling and teeth glinting."LILYPAW RUN!!!"Smokesong screeched, grabbing the apprentices scruff,"I'll get Lilypaw back to camp and back up, ke the fox under control till I get back!"She hissed as she dragged the gray SheCat in her mouth.
Crowpaw unsheathed his claws, All his senses completely lost eect for the blood roaring in his ears.His eyes narrow as he slashed out at the fox.Between what sounding like a howl of a dog and the roaring in his ears, he heard thundering paws and looked up to see Hawkclaw racing toward the fox.The fox snarled, and swiped out, slashing Crowpaw to the ground and ripped at the black toms belly, Crowpaw slashed out snarling.Dark clouds had rolled in, and a loud clap of thunder snapped, and the fox slashed his face, hitting his eyes.Crowpaw saw a blurry Hawkclaw racing toward him, and blood.He heard one word,"CROWPAW!"Before he gasped and it went dark.


Murmuring voices echoed around him as Crowpaw's eyes blinked opened,"Is he alright?How is Crowpaw?!What happened?"Crowpaw looked up, it was blurry at first, but he righted himself, blinking his eyes,"Wha?-"He looked around, Ashstripe was shoo-ing away visitors,"Later!Later, please!Oh, no Rabbitkit please!Nettlekit come here!Oh, Lilypaw, Pinepaw go!Shoo please I'm trying to work!"Ashstripe's distressed tone echoed.The gray tabby sighed and padded back inside,"Crowpaw, Your awake,"She meowed."I guess I am..."Crowpaw muttered, his eyes burning.His pelt stung like nettles,"What in StarClan's name happened?"He growled."All I got was you where attacked by a fox!Well, that's what Hawkclaw said anyway,"Came Nettlekit's voice from deep down in.The white and tan shekit trotted out of the den with a pile of dock in her teeth,"They chased the fox off, Smokesong doesn't think it will come back again though,"Crowpaw licked his shoulder roughly and his head whipped up as the brambles rustled.Hawkclaw slid inside, his pelt slightly ruffled and he ran over to Crowpaw,"Crowpaw, Are you ok?!"He meowed.Crowpaw pulled away,"Hawkclaw I'm fine!"He growled.Hawkclaw bit his lip and stepped away, he looked at Ashstripe and held her gaze, suddenly he snapped back to his senses and shook his head,"Um, Ok.Anyway, Crowpaw do you want something to eat?"He asked.Crowpaw laid down in his nest,"No,"He grumbled."Crowpaw you have to eat!You've hardly eaten since Ferrowpelt died, your skinnnery then a minnow,"Ashstripe exclaimed."Shes right!"Came Nettlekit's sing-song voice from the back,"Nettlekit stay out,of it!"Crowpaw snapped.Ashstripe flicked her tail for Hawkclaw to leave.The Tom nodded and slipped out of the den.Ashstripe padded forward and laid down next to Crowpaw,"Hey, are you ok?"she murmured."No,"Crowpaw whispered, his head laid down on his paws,"I miss my mother and father,"He riled to stop them, but tears ran down his face.Ashstripe curled her tail around Crowpaw's back,"It's ok, Crowpaw.I'm here for you.And you have Lilypaw, and Nettlekit, and Rabbitkit and Hawkclaw,"She murmured.The dead silence filled the den.Crowpaw felt the cool breeze touch his paws, and his black head lifted, As if no more then a shadow, with blue eyes glinting.A lilth smoky shape entered, in pain, not confidence,"Lilypaw!"He breathed and lept up, barley skimming the floor as he reached the gray SheCat,"Oh Lilypaw!Are you ok?"he murmured softly."I'm fine, Crowpaw, really,"Lilypaw meowed.Deep down, farther then anything he really had ever felt about Lilypaw.Something.Wasnt.Right.

Chapter 2
Lilypaw limped as she slid into the den, she saw glinting blue eyes from the shadows, and could barley make out Ashstripe and Crowpaw's shape.She heard a thud of paws as Crowpaw reached her.The searing pain like lightning shot up her forpaw,"Oh Lilypaw!Are you ok?"Crowpaw meowed,,anxiously."Crowpaw I, fine!"Lilypaw meowed.~No, your not Lilypaw~ "Lilypaw, Go and rest,"Ashstripe's new came from deep in the shadows.Lilypaw nodded and limped out of the den.She Competly ignored Ashstripe and walked out of camp.The rain thundered down, The thunder roared above and lightning made not a sound, only a slit snapping and crackle.The wind whistled and the river roared.Lilypaw turned and raced to the river, ignoring the slashing pain.She lept into the river, the icy cold shock spammed her body and she gasped.The cold had numbed her, she hardly could feel her paws as she swam up the river, the waves crashed agasnt the rocks.Her eyes widened and her body tensed as the river swam over her, Her head falling below the waves.Shechoked, and she saw all black before her now-limp body washed down the river.
