True Ameraucana, or Heinz 57 EE?

"she's" an EE I have 3 just like her and I also have 3 pure bred Ameraucana's and they only come in 3 colors and have slate legs. I also have 18 EE's and they do have a lot of the same features but not the same coloring and I have yet to see a solid EE all mine have at least 2-3 different colors especially Callie she favors a calico cat with her coloring.

I wish hatcheries wold stop selling EE as Ameraucana's. I think it is deceiving to people. They think they have a bredd that they don't. Meyer sells them as they should be. EE. I have 4 and they are so cute with their beards!

The hatcheries sell very, very, very few chicks, of any kind, that are true to breed. Once you see what a true Barred Rock looks like on the Heritage Barred Rock thread, or what a real Rhode Island Red looks like on the Heritage Rhode Island Red thread, here on BYC, you soon realize that hatcheries aren't selling much that is even close to true. They sell birds that are cheap, healthy, usually productive and are said to "represent" ( I read kinda, sorta like) the breeds.

The hatcheries serve a real purpose. Providing birds, at their prices, that are true to the breeds? That just isn't going to happen.

Thanks for this post. I have one that looks just like yours. When I bought it there was a note saying that it wasn't for showing. I was just looking for a few colored eggs. I'm wondering if we can show it as an Easter Egger in our small 4h group?
