Trying to Clean House

how about a bunny duster

my routine is simple

stay on top of the problem and it never takes alot of time to spruce it up

kitchen is first
the dusting type stuff
then bathrooms
then pick up the floor for all the big things the vacuum might suck up

all floors last after everything else gets thrown on them while I clean

I love a clean house. Never let it get too bad. I de-cluttered the entire house, now it is so simple to clean.
Before all those knick knacks drove me insane..lol

I do this on Mon or Tues and then Thur give or take......I never clean on a friday, sat, or sunday (I refuse...haha)

Same here - all clutter is OUT of my life. What a relief. I went through my house about 3 years ago and got rid of everything.

That was the same time we installed a new kitchen and I took everything out the kitchen and put it in boxes. After the new kitchen was in I only went and got stuff out of those boxes as I needed it. After six months of cooking I couldn't believe how much stuff I NEVER used - so out if went. I still have alot of room in my kitchen drawers!

It only takes me 30 minutes to clean up my house so it's presentable at any time.

Flylady has tools for everything. And she will try to sell them to you too! Personally, I just keep restarting the program again and again and again. Each time something new sticks. So far I've got the whole get dressed down to the shoes thing down pretty well. And the load dishwasher before bed (my version of shine your sink) is off and on. I have discovered that there is one place for everyone that if they have it clean and organized than they can function at a higher plane. For my husband it's the desk. For me it's the pantry. Find your spot and work on decluttering (15 minutes at a time, it's not a race!) that first. I've got loads to do to get this house to the point where it will be as organized and clean as I would like, but I'm not freaked out about it. It'll happen as it happens. In the meantime I have to plan tomorrows lesson on volcanic rocks for my kids (we homeschool). Oh, and set up the Wii that we got for Christmas, since I finally got the livingroom clean enough to do it. That was the deal. My eight year old is going down tomorrow in bowling! But he'll probably beat me in boxing, so it's a fair trade.

Good stuff here, funny! I pick a room that I know people will be in alot that day, usually the kitchen. Then I have a rule of starting at 12 o clock. I go around the room in a "clock" fashion and clean. one oclock, 2 oclock... even if I move everything to 11 oclock it counts.
I also make a rule of cleaning for a certain time whether it is 15 minutes or 30. Then I let myself do something fun for 1/2 the time I cleaned.
Most of the time I get into getting things picked up and don't play as much. But sometimes I do play. Especially on here.

wow tipsy we sound alike...lol

that "put everything in a box" and see what you take out and actually use was a great one. At the end, if it stayed in the box, away it goes. I bet you gained tons of space in your kitchen. cool

My home seems bare to many. I have the basics.

I took everything off walls, fixed the holes, painted, etc. and I can not bring myself to put my pics back up...LOL...instead for some wall effect....I put a big vase with very tall colored williows in on a talbe and it gives height effect. Beats putting holes in my perfect walls now and I don't have to dust pics...LOL

It is amazing what we can do without and how much we feel so much lighter....I sure do!

Of course, we could just watch an episode of Hoarders and feel all better about our own houses!

hoarders

OMG how do they live like that?

I would go insane truly. Clutter around me makes me just crazy.

To that level they would have to commit me. I love a clean and simple decluttered home. I don't know what I would do if I had to live in filth like that...UGH

I think hoarders to that degree sure have mental issues.
