Trying to hang cabbage....someone help! LOL

How do I even get thru the "stem" to make a hole? I tried using a wooden dowel to bang it thru and the dowel busted so I had to cut the cabbage in half. *sigh* Totally defeated what I was trying to do. Any suggestions to to make the hole? Thank you!

Drill?... Or me personally I would go to a farm store or the like and get a 'Cabbage Ball'. You put the whole head in it and it has a little chain you can hang it from. I thought it seemed like a cool idea.

Hmmm...I've never hung a cabbage, but I think a corkscrew would work well. You know, the kind that you open wine with? Seems like you could tie a string to the handle and work the corkscrew into the cabbage and hang it.

I hang cabbage a lot. My DH, who likes every electrical tool there is, drilled a hole through it with a small spade bit & then ran the string though it. I've found it easiest to use an ice pick & then thread a zip tie through that hole. Then I tie string to the zip tie.

That's much better than my current approach, which involves a long nail, bailing wire, and a certain amount of bad language.

I guess I'm just lazy, I roll the cabbage into the run. They chase and peck at it, and it's gone in no time.

That actually works great; it's just not as funny as the cabbage pinata.
