I candled mine on day 4 and saw pretty much what you described but I couldnt realy tell untill day 12 when I was absolutely certain the whole egg started getting dark and I could see the chick moving back and fourth inside.

if you notice the dark area in the egg it moves as i turn the egg is the normal or is it a dud?

I'd say dud...I didn't see anything like veining or anything plus the swirling makes it sound like a dud to me.
