Trying Ultra Kibble vrs Mazuri game bird breeder

I'm working on trying to get one of them to carry it....I thought it wouldn't do much but I've had to cut way back on what I feed them it's going to save me money even paying for FedEx to deliver it.....I've been feeding it for 3 weeks. I'm going to start setting my own eggs after New Years from my test batch 5 out of 6 are good from pullets.....they hatch on Christmas

No friends close who would use this...I just bought 6 bags plus a case of each Chick blocks and Forage blocks and I believe it will help me with my breeding projects as so far it seems very cost effective.

Good idea Yashar, however I don't have any chicken chummies close to me...I suggested that they may market to Azure Standard but I haven't checked on the status of that yet to see if they will carry it... If so then it is a pipeline to my door!!!!

This is where I ordered mine from http://www.shanestack.com/shop/index.php?page=shop-flypage-42736 but it is made in Iowa distributed by C & S you might find a store close to you who can order it with their regular order

I'm very pleased with using it so far and a little goes a long ways mine are eating maybe a 7 to 1 ratio and I think they are still leaving too much kibble and my egg production is great and I'm using the forage cakes they need to be dampened on a corner for them to learn to eat them they are harder than the Purina flock blocks and I thought my chicks would mow thru the chick cakes but they last...

Thanks Yashar that thread is the reason I wanted to try Ultra Kibble. I've learned that conventional feed wasn't working well with my large dual purpose fowl I had to feed extra items not in my feed. Using Ultra Kibble has simplified my life and improved my flocks health my droppings are much firmer and easy to clean up now I need more feeding tables...it's a never ending quest

I just received my Ultrakibble & foragecakes. I'm a little disappointed in that the Optimal Forage cake is only 15% protein. I had seen it listed as 18% online & saw another picture where it clearly read 16%, so what's up? I can only assume the manufacturer is taking down the quality. I am anxious to try it anyway & see how it goes.

Cindy they eat those cakes very slowly I use a double pan to keep them in the outside pan with sand and charcoal inside pan with the cake and I moistened one corner to get them started. For starting the UltraKibble I soaked the pellets (wish I had a grinder) made a mash with hard boiled eggs first them made mash with lay mash. I think at first I fed too much UK now they eat it mixed with the grain mix I make....they eat sooo much less I thought they were sick my egg count is up and the size of those eggs is impressive. I even had to cut down on the sprouts it was taking them too long to clean them up. The behavior of the birds has changed no longer act hungry spend most of their time dust bathing or hanging out on the roost my set up has them jumping or flying up into the coop but their favorite place is the outside roosts or the dirt holes they make but it's going to really rain so the dust holes will be no more I have dumped leaves in all my runs so they will have piles of something to play in I will fix them a dust box under their house for dusting I think they will need it.....maybe a boat. It took a week to get most of the birds to eat the new food my Delawares who are pigs were not liking the UK at first they took 3 week to eat it well What I did was take the kibble in the feeders that they left and used it with the mash so I didn't waste anything. I feed split and Austrian peas in my grain mix they eat the UK like they do the peas or even the whole corn I use my birds prefer oats and wheat and millet.....well don't get in the way when I feed fish/meat scraps wow

I think my birds are switched over now and I've hatched out a few test chicks and other eggs from breeders and the chicks started with the UK are fantastic excellent growth and feathering. My life is much easier for feeding though I feel for my breeders making up a mash with the UK is the best way to go so they eat a little more of it. I sold a bird that has been on it since November (5month old cockerel) and she can't believe how he looks and I sent him with food (she loved how it looked) and he doesn't like to eat her Purina feed at all......I mix up a 25% parakeet feed with UK ran through the blender for my babies and they are doing quite well with it. I'm still working on getting the feeding tables built and getting all the birds to eat the forage blocks. Only one problem using this feed is having to order it I cannot get any local store to sell it and the only suggestion is I wish the kibble was a little smaller, my birds must have though it was peas the way they first ate it......

Glad to hear it is going well. I have been using UK to supplement the last of my organic layer pellets. It seems the LF are eating it quite well, but the bantams are a bit more picky. The bantam rooster picks thru the pellets for the UK, however. I can't find anyone to order UK for me, so I have decided to try the Mazuri 20% Breeder for now. It will make life easier & I will be able to still feed a good amount of grain. I have not put my forage cakes out yet, as we have had off & on snow & I didn't get a table moved in. I am nervous as to whether they will eat the Mazuri or not, but they have had so many different feeds and haven't refused one yet, so here's hoping. My feed store said they should have my Mazuri in 2 weeks. It is $18.70/40lbs., so that is not too bad. Lotaspaints, is the Mazuri about the same size as UK? The UK is just smaller than the field peas I had been giving them. Will let you know how it goes.
