TSC Chick Days!

I don't know if all of them get theirs from the same one, but the one in Fairview, TN got theirs from Privett (sp?) last year. They haven't gotten theirs this year, but would they order from the same hatchery each year?

I was curious about the hatchery because they said I could special order and get the chicks delivered to my home, but wouldn't it make more sense then to just go directly to the hatchery then and skip the middle man?

There was a thread awhile back about where they were getting the chicks from. Seems that they get them from just about every major hatchery. McMurrey, Privett, Ideal ect.
They didn't have any in today. Kids liked the outing though.
I am waiting for the feed store to get some in anyways.

That is what the one north of me got in and they also said they would be getting in others including easter eggers with in the next few weeks. I got some from them, but am hoping to get more chicks at the TSC closer to me, and the stock sale in the morning (then my MPC order will be here Wednesday... coop will be here Thursday... ahhh - I am really doing this!! sorry - a bit off topic, LOL)

Our local feed store had Rhode Island Reds and a few other chicks this past week. I bought my girls last Friday but I've gotten more information and good supplies from this site then the clerks at the feed store.

In Franklin NC they said it will be tht 15th. I hope they have a few EE's Maybe I can get my hen that is hatching now to accept a couple. she is pretty laid back. Gloria Jean

Thanks everyone. I went to see what they have...and man do they sell out quick. But They had Black and Amber links,Assorted Reds, and Assorted Bantams...as well as some Angora,Polish, and Lionhead rabbits! I really wanted some Amber links...but my parents decided to order 10 Barred Rock chicks(all pullets) from...aww man I forget...lol. But they arrived today,we already had everything set up for their arrival, and all was well. They even messed up and gave us 1 more barred rock free,as well as the mystery chick that turned out to be a standard sized Buff Brahma. I have no idea about this breed(Brahma),but I hope it turns out as a hen,and is a good egg producer. So yup,yay new chicks!!! Pictures will be coming soon, they are the cutest little things.

Also,do you or anyone else you know have any Ameracuana chicks or hens for sale?? If so...please contact me! I would like maybe 2 or 3. Not many,I already have too much!

The only thing I hate to see is impulse buying from people who think..."Ah so cute let's get lil'Bobby some for Easter" Then when they grow so quickly they don't have a clue as to what to do with them. Then the chicken, rabbit etc is the one that suffers from it. I didn't mean to rain on ya'lls parade I know BYC'ers are responsible chicken fanciers. But these people that just impulse buy don't realize chickens are a commitment that lasts past Easter, unless they plan to eat lil'Bobby's chick.

I remember as a child on the farm my sis buying us pastel colored chicks for Easter. We loved them of course but now I think of what those babies went through back in the 60's and 70's to be all gussied up in pink for Easter. It had to be awful for them.
