TSC Coop/run modification/design thoughts?

Does that door/window above it open so you can reach in and push it through? Just asking.

The door above it does open, but with the tray only being an inch deep, it is still hard pulling the tray out with shavings and poop clogging it up. That wooden bar between the tray and door is permanently attached. I think I'm going to have to saw it out and replace it with another bar on a hinge so that I can swing it open when I'm cleaning.

why not just saw from the door sides straight down then screw that piece to the door. When you want to clean it out just open the door up and away from the tray along with that bar that is in the way.

Hello fellow TSC Coop owners. Have a bit of a problem and wanted to see if any of you have a better solution. I'm using pine shavings as bedding on the pull-out tray. Since it is only about 1" deep, deep litter is certainly out of the picture.

However, even the 1" deep litter is proving to be a hassle to change. When you try and pull out the tray, the litter tends to bunch up behind the bar immediately above the tray and it is a real hassle to pull out and clean. Anyone else run into this? Any suggestions for how to handle it better? Different litter, etc?

Unfortunately, that bar isn't designed to be easily removed or this process would be a lot easier. Maybe I need to find some way to replace it to make cleaning easier.

I Lost track of this thread with the software upgrade. sorry I'm late to the party! I've noticed the same thing. but, I've started makijng a habit of scooping out the night poop every morning and just dumping it in with dog poop, with a full litter change once a week. so by the time I change the litter, it's pretty low. I scoop out some and just pull out the rest. I might switch to sand, once I run out of litter.
