TSC grumblings

Oh man... I would've gone off the deep end

See, I don't have kids, so I can throw a fit in a store

Whether it was going to die or not, he still should not have simply been put in the garbage!! You do that with anything else, and it's animal abuse, I think chicks and chickens should count also!

I understand that you had your children, but as for me, I would have snatched the little sick chick, paid for it and taken it home.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again about TSC...

...never mind.

Wow! and I have been playing with the idea of checking out their chicks in our local store but now I am not so sure! I have noticed that there are only a few employees in our TSC that really know about farm animals and some are there to take up air.

it was my first time there and maybe they have some other employees who are more competent and conscientious...but these two sure weren't.

as we were leaving, the manager encouraged me to order from a hatchery (i was looking for a specific breed) and told me to order 25 if i want 5 or 6, because so many will get killed by predators.

i thought that sort of summed up his chicken savvy and stewardship (or lack thereof) in a nutshell.

i agree. forgot to share the crazy story about another TSC store (further from me) the other customers told me about, before all this happened. apparently these folks went to that store (local to them) to get chicks and were told they'd have to wait because a CAT had gotten in and eaten all the chicks. the salesperson asked them if they needed any "fish bait". can you believe that?

We picked up chicks from one, and the cashier goes "Now you need to have duramycin 10 in their water all the time!, we're out of it right now though."

I just looked at her like she was stupid and walked out...

TSC is the Wal-Mart of farm supply. I understand that these mega companies provide supplies at somewhat of a savings, but their goal is to put the local small businesses out of operation. Once that happens watch the prices rise. Whenever possible, I try to support the local more knowledgeable suppliers. I'm afraid that what you witnessed is a picture of the future. Putting a dying animal in a zip-loc is inhumane-killing swiftly is humane.
