TSC Problems and Ranting

And despite that, they can't even fix their phones or figure out settings and whatnot.

I have unlimited access to computers, especially of the old variety. I spent a good chunk of time learning how to use them, fix them, and get annoyed at them. I might even start a repair business someday, and see how that goes. I'm quite certain there will be lots of people.
Yeah, if someone is as obsessed with something as kids are with devices nowadays, then you should learn about it. Like how people on here have poultry and they are on here to learn all they can about the things they are spending their time on.

I called them the last time I got chicks to see if they had their new stock in (I had called the day prior and they said it was running late.) And so I asked them if they got the new chicks in and the man on call said "Unfortunately we have."

I really did not know what to say back to that except "What?" I was so confused.

Does anyone ever wonder if people in charge of chicks at TSC even care to work with the chicks?
🤣Have you ever worked retail and with the public?

I would hazard a very strong guess, the employee does care for the chicks, they just dread dealing with the people...

When you answer the phone yet again and it's the 30millionth call asking about chicks and you've only been open 30 minutes...it gets old real quick.
(Same as people calling - do you have that TV in stock???)

Our TSC does a very good job with Chick days here. The main lady that takes care of them is an experienced chicken keeper (she has other fowl too) and she trains the employees that will be working with chicks. Our store sets up a chicken coop run/kennel in the store and all bins are placed inside. The door on the kennel stays locked, no one touches chicks except for employees.
AND...the lady (and those she chooses to work with chicks) are natural people persons, meaning they enjoy interacting (for the most part) with customers.

If you've never dealt with that special type of customer - just once...it can put off your whole day or perhaps turn you relatively cold to the whole retail customer service type of thing.

Not that folks shouldn't call their store for whatever and ask questions, customer service should be reasonably pleasant too, but do take into consideration what the employees may have had to put up with.

That is your store. The TSC store I go to has people who do not know what to do with the chicks. You may have a good experience with your TSC chick days, but that does not mean everyone has one. Most of the employees at my TSC store are teenagers who couldn't care less about being there. The older people who work at the store are nice, except for one of them.

The last time I had went to get chicks, the employees didn't even care to come get the chicks, the delivery driver for the chicks, who didn't actually work at the store, just delivery, came to help. I appreciated that. The whole time I was being nice to the people, I would rather not make their day worse. I got the chicks that I had came for thanks to the help of the driver.

I get that there are rude customers and people calling repeatedly, but I was also told to call back that day by an employee who I had called the day prior. And I most definitely was not being rude, I was saying "Sir" the whole time and tried to keep it short so that I didn't bother them too much.

It is also not only the employees over call that are rude, it has been the ones in person too, and not just with getting chickens.

Then don't patronize the business anymore. Simple as that. But to start a whole thread bashing them, just call their corporate office and complain

I started this thread because there have been multiple threads where people start talking about problems with their TSC stores, so this one was made so other threads were not de-railed by that topic.

Patronize:
"Treat in a way that is apparently kind or helpful but that betrays a feeling of superiority."
All I done with TSC was done my business there and left. Never "Betrayed any feeling of superiority."

"To speak to or behave toward someone as if they are stupid or not important"
I never said the company was stupid or not important. I am saying that the workers there could care more about the chickens there.

"If you are patronizing, you tend to speak down to others, acting as though you are smarter, classier, or just plain better than anyone else."
I never spoke down to them, that would be like me talking to them like they are stupid while I am there. I never acted smarter, classier, or better than anyone. I was making an observation and sharing experiences.

This website is for sharing experiences, opinions, questions, answers, etc.

Absolutely this. I have been doing retail pretty much the entire time I've been working and while not everyone was rude/awful to deal with, every customer was an opportunity to be scolded/berated.

I loved my jobs that were in retail, but the threat of customers treating me the way they did was enough to make me keep changing jobs.

Back on topic, mine has yet to disappoint. Of course not everyone there can answer every single question asked, but they will ask someone else if they don't know the answer

Very convenient of you to skip the obvious definition of patronize, in this circumstance:
"frequent (a store, theater, restaurant, or other establishment) as a customer.
"restaurants remaining open in the evening were well patronized"'

And clearly what I meant. Don't twist my words

I definitely understand. Rude customers are always something that are dreaded each day.

I always try to address workers as Sir or Ma'am and try to keep the call as short as possible to prevent any issues. I know that they have to work.

My TSC is very popular for their chickens, so I have begun to call before going there to get chicks. They don't have anything on their website saying what chicks they have and if they have any at all. I have gone there a couple times to get chicks and there were none, which is good for TSC but also very sad, because no chicks 😢. I call them in advance and the conversation usually goes:

TSC: Hello, this is [Insert name], How may I help you today?

Me: Hello Sir/Ma'am, I was wondering if you have any chicks in stock?

TSC: We do!/Sadly we don't.

Me: (If they say they do) Okay! What kinds do you have?
(If they say they don't) Okay, thank you! Have a great day!

TSC: (With chicks) We have [Insert chicken breeds]
(Without chicks) Have a great day!

Me: (With chicks) Thank you! Have a great day!

You are saying I am patronizing the store. When you say it in that sentence, the definitions of the form of patronize I provided, fits.

When you say "Then don't patronize the business anymore." after talking about me making a thread to talk about problems from TSC, that is what it seems like. If you would have said "Then don't be a patron of the business anymore." I would've understood clearly.

I apologize for the misunderstanding.
