tube feeding

Wow I have never seen anything like that. Glad she is ok now. Mine is a little better today. She was pooping yesterday straight liguid blood, no mucus, nothing. Today it is fully formed stool nice looking with a bit of straight liguid blood on the side. She seems to feel a bit better.

How is your little one? She sure has pretty colored feathers.

Are you still treating with Sulmet? I'm so glad everyone seems to be recovering. Wynette's right about the small amount of blood, but I still wonder if cocci weren't the culprits.

I am still treating with sulmet and she is holding her own right now. I need to do another feeding with her. Last night around 11pm she ate by herself(moistened food).,

I think Sulmet is a 3-day treatment, if I remember correctly. I'm sure Kris is just following the instructions on the bottle. Kinnip, I bet it was cocci. If the conditions are right, which they seem to OFTEN be right....it's easy for them to catch it.

Kris...it's most likely cocci. It's in the ground all the time and anytime their immune system is compromised...like going to a new place, etc...they would be prone to have an overgrowth of the cocci. It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to give sulmet prophylactically to new birds.

Hope she gets well completely....soon!!

Thank you. She is doing better, but I am still taking her out to feed her a few times a day to make sure she is eating and drinking her sulmet water. She will be tame soon.

That's one good thing that comes from having a sick chicken that you're nursing to health; especially when hand feeding. They definitely do get tamer! GLAD she's doing better for you!!
