TULSA area Cluckers

Unfortunately, I think it will mostly be geared towards kids. I am debating having a "workshop" for adults/parents a few times out of the year but have to make sure that's alright with the Extension office.

lonny, your kiddo is more than welcome to attend even if they don't have birds. We're going to be talking about different areas of the care, feed, housing, breeds, etc. and may be a good starting point to get his feet wet without jumping in.

Hi. it has been a LONG time since I have been on here and posted. I am glad to see there is a poultry club in Rogers Co! Yay!

Our Tulsa County YFR 4H club has a lot of members with poultry. I hope your club gets a strong membership.

We live in Tulsa. And our urban chickens were attacked and killed by a stray dog.

We have re-inforced our fencing. And we are now looking to rebuild our flock. If you know of anyone who has chicks, pullets, or hens about 1 yr old for sale I would be interested. I preferr Buff Orphingtons, Astaulorps, RIRs. But any brown egg prolific layer would be considered. I will check back in when I can.

Thanks.

Oh NotSuperWoman, not the babies you got from me? Oh so sad! Good luck finding some new ones! I may have a few EE pullets and I know one Black Copper Marans pullet, between 6 and 10 weeks old if you are interested. Just PM me.

Funny thing happened last night- noticed my broody hen had left her chicks on the floor and gone up to roost with the rest of the adults, they are about 3 weeks old. So I opened the coop door to scoop them up and put them in the chick pen. As soon as I started messing with those babies and they began peeping she was right back into momma mode- pecked me on the head and jumped to the ground all puffy and clucky. Guess she wasn't done! Haha took the chicks anyway, they are safer from snakes and hawks in the baby pen if she is getting tired of them. But I did snatch them and shut that door quick!

Yes. The ones I got from you and the ones I got from Betsy. We were so upset.

I am interested so I will PM you.

Lonny that is funny. I love chickens and their little personalities.

We have two pullets left. Poor things look lost without their buddies. And we have learned that they are scared of our pet rabbit.

The other day we let our rabbit loose in the run to run around. I was a little nervous thinking our pullets would peck at him. But nope. They looked at him for a long time, and the first hop he made they both squacked then went and hid in the rafters of the coop. Too funny.

I have one broody hen that is up on the roost at 3-4 weeks and makes her babies get up there with her. My other one was just done at 3 weeks and the babies were on their own. I just leave them be. They work themselves into the pecking order. Both of those hens are broody again and should have hatches next week.

I will have chicks hatching from broody hens next week. I might have a couple young pullets in the next couple weeks as well. Trying to figure out who to keep and who to let go.

this sounds horrible. we have to ducks and four chickens. i love my ducks but one of them is picking on my chickens. they were fine for several months together. but my rooster got hurt and is disabled now. ever since then my duck tries to pin him down and has started picking on the other chickens as well. i have tried to secluding them but we can tell it is affecting the ducks quality of life. we have decided to try to find the duck a new home. any takers?
