Turkey Coop Build

Expect a lot of complaints and fence walking from your turkeys when you put them in there. They absolutely hate change. I've seen them rub their snood clean off walking the fence to get out.
Yeah, i am sure they will not be thrilled to move and then have to be penned up so they learn to go back there are night. Their snoods are not very long yet, hope they don't hurt themselves. I am going to integrate the three younger turkeys when i move them into the coop. Are turkeys good with younger ones?

It depends. They aren't usually as bad as chickens, but you can still see some problems especially from the hens. I tend to separate the young by a fence until they are about 3 months before I let them mingle.

You will have an interesting time moving them for sure. Last year's poults, when I moved them to a bigger brooder, they stood in a weird huddle in the corner for 2 nights before finally adjusting. I used to have a bourbon red hen who rubbed her snood off pacing the fence as a poult. They are quirky emotion birds.

Um, i am not sure how old these are. I will have to look it up in my calendar. They hatched June 6th, so only a bit over a month. I guess i will pen in part of the coop for them.

:hitoh crabapples, i didn't finish. I wanted to so much, i was out there at dusk trying to finish with a head lamp on. Swarms of mosquitoes in attendance...and i said ..wtf am i doing? I am so close but no cigar. The door to the pen/ nest box has to be a weird shape because the land slopes 2 directions and the coop is not square to the run because hubby wanted to hook up to a tree.:duc
I got the old door cut and painted, the spaces between the 2x4s filled, hardware cloth tacked on. Only the door needs to be fixed. I ran out of screws.
I will finish in the morning. The turkeys don't care. :lau

You are accomplishing more than I am. I just mostly hide in the house this time of year. I am a mosquito magnet, and I hate the heat. I will go back outside after September.
I don't mind the heat as long as i am in the shade. Hoping to lose some weight sweating this summer. I drink loads of fluids daily, rain or shine, hot or cold.
I have tons of stuff to do around here, only been here a year and making good progress day by day. Sometimes i just get impatient.
