Our turkey hen began laying around 27 weeks old. She is a broad breasted bronze BBB. Hoping eggs are fertilized, but not sure. They maybe crossed with Burbon Red or Mixed Tom. Not sure which Tom if any.
A few days till candling. So super excited... only 4 turkey eggs in incubator and three back ups incase they aren't fertile.
Read that the BBB Broad Breated Bronze are artificially insemination, so that really had our expectations super low, but the Burbon Tom had at leasted tried to mate with her so we will keep hoping.
Put a few chicken eggs in incubator, and will put them in a different incubator a Styrofoam incubator for the lockdown

Yes artificial insemination is used in commercial production to up the percentages of fertile eggs . But young birds can still get the deed done before they get to big but not very reliably. And yes your smaller more agile heritage toms can cross with your BBB or BBW hens . Love to here the results of your eggs. Best of luck with your incubation.
