I have a pair of royal palm turkeys that are about a year old. The female has been laying since the first of February. About 3 weeks ago, she developed a cold type thing where she did a lot of like hocking when she tried to make noises. It is like her throat was clogged up with mucous or something. My chickens also usually get this. I never treated her because I don't know what to give her and she is still laying eggs but has that mucous problem. Well, where I am the temp. dropped from the nineties down to it frosting at nite and starting yesterday, my gobbler/tom couldn't gobble and it seems he is a bit slow. He tries to gobble but he can't. he doesn't have any of those sounds like the hen though. Does anybody no what is wrong with him and what I could do to treat him and the hen?

Thanks

How long were the chooks affected and did it clear up on its own? Any other detail you could provide would be helpful.

The chickens get it atleast once a year, and sometimes it clears up and soemtimes it doesn't and I give them a shot of tylan and that usuall clears it up

No actually they don't. Just the turkey hen has the rattling in the throat and now the tom is acting very slow and can't gobble well at all. I don' whether he has caught what she has because he doesn't have the rattling in the throat.
