Turkey Talk for 2014

My tom was very protective and loyal to me. He would even move between my friends and I to "protect " me from strangers. Even when he was full grown if I left my front door open he would come in the house and nap on my lap. He was my first incubated turkey and I raised him from hatch. Sure do miss my cutie.

Hi everyone I was getting ready for the arrival of my turkey's from McMurray and of course I've been doing tons of reasearch mostly from links and conversations, along with the beautiful pictures and stories shared here on BYC's Turkey Talk 2014. Thank you all for allowing me to learn from you

Since I learned so much about chickens @ BYC I knew I'd find information about the Guines (6), the goose (Dudley (soon to have 2 more joining us)), the ducks (7), and the turkey's (7). And sure enough some of the La-peeps are here sharing it's awesome. One of the links in addition to which I would want to be sure to share to the newbie is about feed it's not an ad it's data :) https://docs.google.com/viewer?url=http://www.albc-usa.org/documents/turkeymanual/ALBCturkey-4.pdf good helpful stuff to consider with those about to have multiple animals to feed. And non-medicated feed for all if you've got ducks coming. Thanks to Scottingitup for this. And instead of leerking... Hi Everyone and Thanks again!

Rhett sounds like a keeper!! What a good daddy to all babies.

Chickadoodles-- love the set up-- you have put a lot of thought in to the design and a lot of work in to the construction. ( "You" meaning your family. )

DesertMarcy-- I value the commercial industry as most people have no idea that they could grow their own food, but a spade is a spade.
Thanks Arielle! We have and still have alot to do to finish. But it will be worth it when it is done!

I'm still learning and trying to do what is right by everyone and the laws and NPIP.

Only 9 days until my Narragansett eggs are due to hatch! I just candled the eggs, 14 of which are very active. Just hoping and praying that they stay that way, and that they hatch out perfectly with no assistance.

Wonderful memories . . .

Oh what a dilemma!!! I'm hatching the mottled blues like crazy right now. They sell very easy for $7 each. My RP hen is a crappy mom, so I will def be selling her after breeding season. Considering selling my tom and my Lavender hen & just breeding all these mottled's next year to create the lavender & blue palms! My bf wants to continue the rp's too, but won't build another pen. So that's not happening. I have to choose!!!!! Its sooo hard! I just do not know if the babies from the mottled turkeys will sell as well, since I honestly do not know what they will look like to explain to people. :/ What to do! What to do!

Caught 2 of my 3 month olds strutting this morning. It looking like I have 2 Toms and 2 Hens (which is what I suspected). I guess that gives till mid-November to decide which tom is for Thanksgiving and which is for breeding.
