Turkey Talk for 2014

Mine are all in pens they cannot free range here. We have to many predators so we have 3 large dogs to protect the livestock. These two have already been separated.
It seem that the only predators I have any trouble with is Possums I keep a live trap set with some old eggs. So far this winter I caught two

My son keeps live traps & leg traps both set all the time. 2 possum & a skunk in the past month & a half.

Once in a while a skunk or other critter including a fox will come on our property but our dogs either take it out or run it off quickly!

My son also has 4 hunting dogs scattered around the property tied near each pen. The traps are over in the woods away from the birds & dogs but on the most direct path from woods to birds. The traps & dogs have kept the predators away & most of my birds sleep outside but near the dog closest to their coop.

Sounds good. You just can't beat a dog for protection! Our dogs have free run of our property as we are backed up to hundreds of acres of woods and open fields and cows. That brings coyote's and some of the worst predators.

I have been lucky, several years ago possums wiped out my entire flock but that was different area different state my property then was covered all around with woods and undergrowth

I honestly hate my son's dogs. They jumped all over my fences & tore them down & are the reason my birds are now free ranging & sleeping outside. I would be perfectly happy to have the dogs gone, my fences back up & able to lock my birds up properly.
