Rio Grande turkeys are not legal for the state of Alabama and a number of other states. Check on any hatchery site that sells turkeys and it will tell you what turkey breeds they will not ship to where...did that make sense? LOL

They say no wild turkey in Al. :/

Well the lady has come down to $100 on these 2 turkeys and a one year old hen that looks like this hen. I geuss I will go pick them up tonight. yes or no.

What do you feed your turkey's? Can I just feed them chicken laying mash? I read there is Game bird feed is that what i need to feed them? What makes them lay so well?

Right now they are on an all flock feed. I have oyster shell free choice for them. I will up the protein with a gamebird feed when they start to lay tho.
Since you will have a boy, its best not to have them on layer feed, too much calcium for him. If you keep him separate from the girls then you could give them layer.
that would defeat your purpose having him tho!

I feed all my birds a mix of 22% layer pellet and cracked corn. They also get what ever scraps I have and free range. They tend to pick the corn out of the mix and leave the pellets.

ugh.. if its just a little gurgle, wheeze I use the duramyicin 10. other wise tylan 50 injectable. I am no expert, so check with the long term keepers.
