Sorry it has taken me so long to respond, I wasn't subscribed to this thread and it moved along quickly in my absence. They're all mixes, but their colors are similar to existing breeds, or so I've observed. The toms all look either bronze or royal palm. The gray/brown hen is very similar to the narragansett coloration, and the brown/white hens are similar to the sweetgrass coloration. I did have one sweetgrass colored tom from this hatch, but I sold him.

Processed our first turkeys yesterday, 3 out of 5 toms. We skinned one, and dry plucked two. They were surprisingly big and meaty for being royal palm mixes. Very excited to see how they taste.

Great job he looks good!

Have you weighed them? He does look quite meaty in the breast. How old were they?

Can someone tell me what color and size Bronze lay. I found a large brown egg in the barn floor near were one on Turkey hens likes to sleep a couple of days ago. I thought one of the chickens laid a oops. Ground another in the sane place today. That has me wondering if it could be one of the turkeys. They are about 11 months old. The egg weights about 75 grams.

My bronze eggs are significantly larger than even my large chicken eggs. Also, they are light brown, with freckled darker brown spots all over the egg. My hen has been laying her eggs about a foot from the duck nest in the barn. I think she is trying to get the duck to take care of them.

Then I may have Turkey eggs. Jumbo eggs weigh 70 grams. I was exoecting something huge. How long should I expect her to lay. I don't really want to hatch eggs right now in the cold.

Her eggs will get larger over time. My turkey eggs are quite large they do not fit in any egg cartons, certainly not with the lid closed. When mine first started laying they were the size of chicken eggs, over time they got much bigger. She should continue to lay almost daily all the way to Fall.

Length of time will vary with your location. The further north you are the shorter the season will be. Further south gets a really long season. Here in Ohio we average the 2 extremes. Mine laid from March to September last year.
