JJ talks to the birds more than I do. I catch him baby talking "his" call duck hen all the time. I sweet talk the toms & JJ gets jealous & wants to know why I don't talk to him that way. I tell him "Cuz they listen & you don't." Lol

How fun! This is where I get into trouble. I have not yet learned to be "dominant" over the animals. I coddle. My friend that raises geese was telling me I would need to change that before I get any Geese. LOL. But I am sure if he comes at me , it will startle me enough. Not like I can threaten him that "I will get the spoon!" LOL!!!!
I KNOW! WHERE ELSE DOES THAT HAPPEN??? We smoke on the porch outside, and here come a whole gang just walking up like "HI! We are here!". Still bothers me that they hand raised them so nice and then just left them go, though! I mean, this road is busy enough they could have been hurt (maybe some did get hurt), and all the wild animals. That just wasn't right. But, I have them safe now, so I won't start any trouble.

GLAD I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE!!! The guys at the feed store make fun of me. They knew right away those turkeys would become pets!! I have chickens that get hugged everyday and snuggled (especially the chick that was dying in TSC during Chick days so I had to buy her to "save her little life"...it worked and she is gorgeous), my goats DEMAND kisses on the nose every day, and if my animals need medical attention, we set up an old baby playpen in the house!!! LOL! I never had a farm until about 7 years ago...or spent time on a farm, so I am afraid I am not such a great "farmer". All of my animals are "different" according to friends, the vet, the hoofer guy, and my feed guys. I get told I should write a book with so many weird things that go on here. LOL! I am glad I did it! My life has never been so interesting!!!
I took a short video of Turkish and Taffy this morning. It goes like this a lot, heh. She ignores him, he tries really hard to get her to notice him.
Anyway, you can see them with all the chickens, so it gives you an idea of the size of midget whites.
Oh and Turkish looks a little ragged, sorry. We're in the middle of an unexpected January thaw, so EVERYTHING is wet.

Great video your turkeys are so lovely! I love how he is trying to get her attention and she could care less lol. And boy your Dominiques are chatty lol. Also just incase Id watch closely come breeding season that your Tom doesn't try mating your chicken hens since you seem to keep them all together, he could possibly hurt one.

I was wanting to have some dual purpose birds for meat and eggs, but DH made pets out of them. So he won't process any of them..... Oh well....![]()
So I sell them for meatI have my favorites so I do understand. Animals are very entertaining! I love them.
Thanks, we do keep a pretty close eye on everyone, so I'll notice if he does. Just before I took this video I watched him ... ahem ... have intimate relations with a pile of snow. LOL. I guess he's frustrated.
Aw see I like the CX meat chickens. I have always found them to be very friendly and sweet. I still process them but its a little sad every time.LOL! MY HUBBY TOO. And the kids just get embarrassed. I told them all the animals are the only ones that don't give me crap!!! LOL!!!
HOW CUTE!!!! Poor guy better take a cold shower. she isn't buyin it! When will men learn???? LOL!!!
Yes, and I am looking forward to turkey eggs. Don't think I will be breeding just yet, since I would cry every time one left! I have learned ot butcher meat chickens, but they are never "nice" animals. so, I don't feel bad.
I have to do this one kind in particular. I get them here in Lebanon. They are a "cobb mix". Anyhow, we got them as chicks for my nephew when he came to spend some time here. he wanted to raise them. After he left, I had these 5 big huge turkey size chickens that I tried to keep as pets, but they were so darn mean. they weren't nearly as smart as my pet chickens either. Always into trouble, always biting us. So, that was my first time, and the emotional attachment just wasn't there. I have gotten the same kind 3 times, and it always turns out the same. Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to do it. I get a little sad because , again, I was never raised on a farm and its still a living critter, so I feel guilty. But, usually by the time we take them to the butcher they are just miserable people. And I don't raise them any different. So, it must just be the breed I guess. Even if I am going to eat them, I try to be very kind to them so they don't suffer while here.Aw see I like the CX meat chickens. I have always found them to be very friendly and sweet. I keep mine penned for the most part. I don't let them out at all in the winter months and I try to let them free range occasionally in the spring fall and summer. I have a small lot and have neighbors and a very busy road so It makes it tough.Hey, does anyone keep your turkeys penned in? I think since everyone is separated, and I don't have the heart to eat the extra boys, I will need another pen. I also wouldn't mind them having a bigger one. Didn't know how dang big turkeys were. Would love to see pics/ hear suggestions.
