Turkey Talk for 2014

I was thinking the same thing.

They would still make nice poults, though not pure and the eggs will still be delicious. But I would not pay $120 for a trio that is not of the same variety, but that's just me. If you want those ones I would talk the price down a little bit. Other wise keep looking around for a good trio that suits your needs.

This is the breeding pair.

I have no expertise in this breed, have actually never seen one in person, but they don't look like the pictures I've seen. The coloring of both is lighter than most pictures, the male has a lot of white around his neck/chest/back area, and it looks like there is white edging on his feather tips. I can't evaluate conformation from these picture angles.

If you don't want them for breeding it doesn't matter what they look like, as long as they're healthy and not aggressive. On the other hand, if you want them for breeding I would have some concerns. Google pictures of the breed to see what they're supposed to look like (although not all the images posted will be up to breed standard, at least you will get an idea by looking at 15-20 of them).

Again, I have no expertise in this particular breed. Hopefully someone who breeds these birds will post a reply for you.

This is the breeding pair.

My Bourbon Red toms are a darker richer red than the girls, with the same tail coloration.

Thanks for the help I'm going to pass on these now. but that is why I ask y'all.
YOu might enjoy having a pair to practice with, and look around for a male in the summer or fall for the BR girl. THe 1/2 breds grow well and make for good eating.

Quote: I have been trying to find alot of reading on wild turkeys in Alabama to see what it would take to get some. But it seems that you have to be a very large land owner for them to come release many birds on your land. I guess some people get permits, but I am not sure what is involved with that yet. I am going to call and find out what they say.
