I am also excited for all of you with first eggs and hatching poults out. That means spring is coming.

I still feel like im stuck in the middle of winter here

We already have a TON of snow let me tell you trudging out to the far animal houses 3 times a day is no fun. And to top it off it is SNOWING AGAIN

Here are all my coops/houses as of this morn then imagine another 6-8 inches on top of that from todays snow.

Poor duck pen collapsed under all the snow and ice

I cant wait for spring!

None of the turkey eggs hatched, so only 2 chicks in the nice big baby crib brooder I repurposed for them. I've set 16 more turkey eggs. This time I'll candle at 10 days. I doubt they'll do anything. I'm looking for a new tom. I can't seem to find a nice one in my area. I hope you're eggs hatch!
This is brilliant!!!

Thank you! Only one of the eight hatched. I lost the others b/c they got too hot (faulty thermometer). I swapped thermometers for lockdown so I could monitor the humidity. Big mistake!!! It was accurate at room temp, but at 102, it read 90-ish!!! All the chicks were malpositioned so as to indicate overheating during lockdown.
I did get one. Here she is:

I'll get a pic tomorrow. She's cuter now that she's all fluffed out!!! =D
I now have two pet chickens.

On the topic of fertility:
If I understand correctly, roosters need light to produce sperm just like hens need light to produce eggs.
If turkey hens need light to produce eggs (or warm temps, etc.), then maybe the toms need light (warm temps, etc.) to produce sperm too.
Could that be right?
Is that something that someone could research (I'm no good at internet research unless I already know what I'm looking for).
