Turkey are more people orientated I believe than chickens. At least mine have been.

I agree, 110%. Turkeys, for whatever reason, seem to latch on to a person. I used to own some heritage lavenders and one hen in particular, would make it a point of flying up
to my bedroom window in the morning, holding on to the sill with just the tips of her toes, and would yelp at me through the glass until I woke up. She kept this up for some time, so I eventually brought in a bag of treats to keep on hand at my bedside. She eventually became broody and hatched out several clutches in her lifetime.

Thanks for sharing your story with us about your lavender turkey. I think the lavender are so beautiful.
My turkey would fly up and land on my shoulder or on my back wanting me to hold them. They are just so full of personality, I don't think I would want to ever be with out turkey again.

My 12 narri eggs in the bator will officially be on day 5 this evening! When should I be able to see veining?

I found my first turkey egg several days ago in our old dog house. We are so excited! The problem is that i haven't found anymore since. I have put straw down where I found the egg and in another doghouse we have. I have also put straw down in a few big totes which are up against the house. I have 5 hens that free range and this is there first year laying. Is it normal for one to lay one egg and then nothing else?

If you have a really good light, you may be able to see faint veining at day 7, but I usually wait until day 10 for turkey eggs. And sometimes I do both! lol
