Turkey Talk for 2014

I am awful bad... bought 4 BBB this morning. Felt awful for my lonely BR poult, so lonely! Their names are Thanksgiving 1 and 2, Christmas and Don. He is DHs best bud, and always helps us process the birds. I always send some home with him for his family too!
I don't blame you, they do need company.

Really????  :celebrate

The disease runs its course for about 2-3 years, then reason sets in and you are able to choose a direction: pick 1-2 breeds and focus on them.  LOL

Lol. Well, luckily my bf is very level headed! Well, sort of. He tries at least. LMBO I have a whole pen of Buff Orps, another for a sizzle project with silkies & a frizzle Cochin, then the turkey pen with a trio. BUT, each of the chicken pens has some "extra" in the for the cuteness factor. Lol Sizzle pen also has an EE & a sultan, then BO pen has my 1st ever s hen from last yr., a red sex link, because she's too sweet to get rid of. :) I have talked him into a polish pen next year though!!! :/

BR will appreciate the company.

Sounds like a great solution. Flock animals can't be alone when growing up. Once the BR is big enough it can be integrated into your flock, and the BBBs can be integrated into your stomach.

I can see that you all are just enablers...... I already gave the yarn purchase enablers and the rabbit enablers now you all are goingbto enable my hatching addiction along with my poultry addiction..... I am so going to have to hit the lottery so I can keep up with my addiction.....lol

Looks like my BBB eggs are duds-again. Sad thing is, that's what my hen is sitting on. Apparently those eggs aren't viable, even if fertile. The BR eggs I bought look to be developing. It was way too early to candle, but I *had* to know. I'll check them again before I toss them, but, bummer. Now I need to find my hen some eggs, pronto. Anyone in north central TX or south central OK have turkey eggs for sale?

Thought I'd share an interesting turkey hen saga. I have 2 hens. My standard bronze laid eggs and hatched poults

earlier this Spring. Now my slate hen has decided to go broody on a nest of Muscovy duck eggs. She hasn't laid the first egg but diligently sits on the mother ducks eggs, even when mama duck crawls in to lay more. Funny!

is this just for turkeys or will my chicken and ducks get to one or two breeds in the bator...... Currently have Cayuga Duck eggs in the bator with Narragansett and Blue Slate Turkey eggs. We have Pekins and Rouens already. Then there are the Bantams that DH wants more of, because they are so cute. We also have Welsummer and Barred Rock chickens. BR may be going since we are not happy with them.

don't believe the lies!.. I've had that disease for over 50 years.. it never completely goes away!
Does it at least improve? Or do I just need to tell my husband to suck it up and deal cause it can get worse? He has a rabbit addiction. He wants to get more but I am out of cages, so he can't get more.

the rule around here is.. if I get to feed my addiction..my husband gets to feed his

same rule needs to apply at your place..

more birds for you
more bunnies for the husband!
(in other words.. get that man some more bunny cages.. and pick up some new bird breeds for yourself while you're at it)!
