Turkey Talk for 2014

Just bought 8 red golden pheasant eggs for hatching,!!! First emus then turkey, now pheasant. I'm i mess, I just can't stope hatching!

Basically since I have 2 toms to 1 hen... So I get REAL good fertility! Oh, and here's a photo of those "lil munchkins" lol : ) that's mine after just a week an a half. Wow hey grow fast!
Oh my, I hope your hen still has feathers on her back and isn't bred too often.

It does depend on the males, but statistically having a high male:female ratio actually decreases fertility. Some males will interfere with each other during breeding, or rush through breeding, so even though there is more breeding activity, there is less successful breeding. And the hens are more likely to be stressed or injured if they're being overbred. But with such a small group, it really does depend on the individuals involved as to how everything works out.

"It's OK now, CC. Just put the egg down and step away from the incubator." "Step away from the incubator."

Yes, I've also read that. So I was amazed to with the fertility. but one of the toms never mates, and her back is in perfect condition, I've been checking to make sure about that : ) but yeah, I wouldn't recommend it for a large group of breeders.

turkey hen has officially gone to setting. She didn't pick a very good spot. It was in direct afternoon sun. Poor thing was roast I made her a shade. She seems to like it. She has the eggs right on a board so I kinda thinking she won't make it to hatch. She or something else broke one egg yesterday so only 4 left.

Next time she gets up scatter some bedding around her nest. She will pull it in around the eggs herself.

Last time I did that she quit the nest completely. but maybe I'll try again a little at a time She seems more determined this time. In 95 degree weather. Thanks for the idea....
