I have my first injury with mating turkeys.

It looks like the tom I have in with them slipped a left a huge gash in the side of one of the hens.

I noticed it this morning while leaving for work. So I won't be able to separate them til this evening.

Guess I got lucky last year as I had no injuries with any of my adult turkeys.

won't be able to tell til tonight. I was leaving for work and saw something didn't look right and when she turned I saw the gash in her feathers. She was walking with a little limp but was eating. Wanted to look closer but was running behind.

Hopefully you will be able to just separate her for a bit and let her heal.

This is a homemade hatcher made out of a 64qt. Styrofoam ice chest. With 2- 60 watt bulbs and a digital thermostat with built in sensor and a computer fan.

Got my first egg out of my pen of chocolates tonight. Those sre the ones I've been wanting to start laying.

So I now have chocolates. A royal palm and a blue slate laying.

Blue slates nest got found by my dog two eggs busted in yard.

We just watch pause and keep going as needed. lol but it works. He even tells you what to buy and where to buy it at for the best price. He's great!

Got the tom out of the pens. Hes not real happy right now. Hens hss some torn skin but cut is not too deep. She isn't depressed and is moving good so I left her in the pen and will watch her for a while so she can heal up. I think she will be fine.
