Lean a board against the coop wall near the corner so it makes a dark tent. See if she likes that as a nest.
Good Idea! I think I can put a board where the nest box is in the corner.Thank You, SilkieSensation

Yes i leant a pallet against the corner in my hen yard. Barely enough for her to get in and has to back out. One of my turkey hens has been laying in there for a month now. A great improvement from the middle of my raised bed last summer...
yes it's frustrating isn't it? You almost need to go around putting straw down everywhere. Hopefully she will get it and become more 'conscious' about it. Last year one dropped it in the waterer. I scratched my head at that one. How did she position herself and then back onto it??? the mind boggles....I will try that.I am worried she has no natural instinct at all! Where she stands the egg drops. She just walks around and stops and drops. She dropped one egg under the hanging feeder.I have never seen anything like that. She is still my favorite just not very bright. She is the only royal palm hen I have. Thank You Turkeytruff

My problem now is they are too picky about where they go to lay. I am terrified they will fly over to the neighbours vineyard and get torn apart by their dogs, as one did last year. So I clip their wings a lot.
Yes very frustrating! I put extra straw under the roost but the eggs are dropping about 5 ft. to the ground. Its like she doesn't even know she's laying them. They just fall out! Maybe she needs reconstruction surgery.lol
All my hens are new layers and I had them dropping eggs off the roost for awhile. They eventually figured it out-kind of. They've decided the chicken boxes are the place to be. They don't really fit, so sometimes the eggs are on the landing board.
The first 5 eggs of my turkeys went into lockdown today.
I f they all stay viable will have 26 go next week.
Then30 more the following week.
After that its up to the broody hens.
Have several setting nests now.
Chicken math followed me to turkeys.
