There is something called Blackhead that is fatal to turkeys. I called my agriculture department in our county offices to inquire about it.
I'm told it is in the soil. Try googling turkeys and Blackhead. sue
I remember now, It's caused by a cecal worm. Google has a lot of info.
OK, so if the turkeys are not on the soil, they couldn't eat the worm that causes Blackhead. If you will google turkeys and Blackhead, there is a lot of information out there. My very first sentence said I would get into trouble by responding. The end.Excuse me if I am wrong but I believe what redneck farmer is saying is that he is not keeping his poultry on soil but rather his poultry "live on DE like stuff" and is asking if blackhead will be a problem if he adds turkeys to his coop since his poultry are not being raised on the dirt.
I don't know the answer to that and would recommend that redneck farmer contact his local county conservation agent (at least that is what they are called where I live).
