Turkeys!!

There are different protien levels for the different types of birds and at different ages.

Poults can eat and live on 20% protien feed, lots of people do it. However they won't grow as fast, mature as large and are more likely to have problems down the road. Think of any livestock, pets or even humans that doesn't get the recommended daily feed, they will live but not thrive, strong and healthy babies generally lead to strong and healthy adults yes? (Other than humans - we have been known to mess that one up

Hi all, been lurking on this thread, lots of info hear. I have a bunch of chickens and some guineas and decided to get 2 turkeys. Does anyone know how I can tell what sex they are? They are about a month old and one is alot bigger than the other. The smaller one is starting to get a red coloring on it's skin on the neck area, other then that they both look the same. They have become really attached to me and start peeping when they hear my voice. The little buggers can really grow on ya can't they.

The toms should have bigger legs and be overall bigger. Also the snood bump will be bigger on the toms. The toms will have less feathers on the head and neck area. You can vent sex them but you have to know what you are looking for.

thanks for the info. One is bigger then the other, but the snood bumps look the same. I hope I have a tom and hen. Guess I'll have to wait and see.
