Turning a shed into a coop.

Now I'm getting ready to separate the hen area from the introduction area. Is chicken wire ok for that? Will they peck at each other through the chicken wire?
Problem with chicken wire is that it's floppy, needs to be attached to something stiff so they can't squeeze thru the edge or bottom.

Making progress.

I still think you will have problems with that old sheet-rock siding (mold, mildew, mites in the walls). Just sayin'.

Thanks, so far so good. There is no insolation in the walls like I thought there was the back side of the piece of drywall we cut away was fine. The only bugs so far have been wasps and spiders
I have no construction skills, I can use tools but the measurements and all screw me up. Hubby is not really wanting to do this, but comes out once I start working on it to tell me his way is better:barnie
So please go easy on me, I am trying. I'm am also on limited funds. He will only spend his money if it's done his way and if you saw how he wants to do the run access door you would :barnie:barnie:barnie

Yes I have it secured very tight. No squeezing through. The bottom is secured with 1in staples and the sides are pulled tight with 1x1/2 boards. So far I'm pretty proud of what I have done. I want to build the run with 2x4's like @jreardon1918 hoping to get a reply from her about my questions so I can see how much it might cost me. Because without that they can't move in. I also want power run from the house to the coop but there's no way I can afford that without hubby.

Is that 2" CW?
Chicks might fit thru that.
Do you have an access door into the area?
Honestly I don't know what size it is. It's some that we had from God knows where. I will be adding an access door to the front. If you look at the poorly drawing pics I did it might give you the general idea of what I am going for.

I had 1" chicken wire separating my 2 coops. I had older hens in 1 pen and Legbar chicks in the other pen. The Legbars would stick their head through the wire, but had trouble pulling it back out. Their feathers would hang up on the chicken wire which gave the older hens plenty of time to peck them. I ended up putting 1/2" hardware cloth along the bottom half to keep this from happening.

OP,

You may consider letting hubby do some things "his way" in order to ultimately get things done. That's the question of the day: Is it worth letting him do things his way to get some good progress on the project?"

Only you can answer that. Good luck.
