Two legged predator !!! how to stop the person...

X2 Masterlock makes these and you can set what combo you want so if you have more than one door to lock you can get multiple locks and just set them to the same combo. Do have to say I like the sitting in the coop with a shotgun idea but it might not be right for you

File with the police! They are trespassing #1. Stealing #2. Yes squatters need a place to live and a way to eat, too, but you don't need to provide them their food. Gov't assistance is available...even working/bartering. If it is eggs they are after, have them provide work in trade. (That's if you are willing to help them.) Otherwise, call the police and let them handle it. Hotwire isn't a bad idea either. I like the idea of the game camera...I sure would want to know who it is.

The ground does not need to be damp to get a good shock. The charging box must be well grounded, that is it. I have gotten shocked more than once on perfectly dry ground.

Have you cought them yet? I would definetly call the cops and set up the game camera. I had 4 legged chickens stealers come in my coop once and i set up a hot wire and the next morning there was hair stuck to the hotwire and on the ground from the stealer so i think it work and he hasnt been back yet.

OMG! I had the same thing happen to me just last night! I went to the store, come back, the silkie girls are gone!

That said, here is what I plan on doing about it:

I'm setting up a couple cameras and voice recorders in spots where they won't be seen and stay dry. I already have these things, so I understand if it is too expensive for most other people... maybe you could barrow some? I'm also going to pretend to leave and pretend I'm not sitting out there with my cell in my hand and 911 already dialed just waiting on "send".

I'm a bit more obsessed than the average person, so I know not everyone would go to such lenths, but there is nothing I hate more than a theif and nothing I love more than a animal (especially chickens

)

I live out in the country and don't think I wouldn't shoot at whoever it is either. I'll hesitate to shoot a coyote or whatever, but a human.... they know better.

No big dog that you can tie to the coop for a few days?

I'd also be making a sign for the door that said.

'Move slowly. I have you in the site of my .22 (or whatever)
Leave. Dont come back. This is your ONLY warning.

Being the first person to break out the gun, in this case I would have to back up on it. Use a gun if the person comes in the house, but on the property is touchy. Look back in my OLD posts and you will find out how I dealt with this problem. A BIG HOLE in front of the gate. Takes a back hoe to make it deep enough.

I would call the police and file a report and also let them know that there are squatters in that barn that are growing and selling drugs. The idea of waiting in the coop with a shotgun sounds good. I had some local gang bangers try to break into my car one night and after I came out of the house with my .45 I haven't had any problems since. But that said, people growing and selling drugs are highly unpredictable, you should definitely start with the police first, shooting an unarmed person (even if they are on your property) can bring you alot of grief and possibly jail time. Some counties have laws that state you are not allowed to defend yourself with more than your attacker (yes it is stupid) but they are out there. Also, unless they are IN your home you are not allowed to shoot them unless they attack you. There was just a report in the news this week about a man that was arrested because some gangbangers came onto his property to attack him and a friend, he went inside and got a rifle and fired it into the ground when 30 of them came onto his property, he didn't even shoot at them just into the ground and the air. If you can go with game cameras (or even CCTV) that would be better and you can give the pictures or video to the police.
