Tylan 50 injection

What is the dosage for injectable Tylan 50? We have 2 adult hens and a pullet hen. Also, how long do we treat them and how long do we have to wait to consume the eggs?

I think it is a 1/5cc injectable for 3 days and the withdrawal is 2 weeks.. I am new to this but that's what I have been told.

Tylan 50 injectable can be given 1/4 ml for a bantam, 1/2 ml for a small chicken under 5 lb, and 1 ml to a chicken 5 lb and over, once or twice and day for 3-5 days. If given orally, I would use it twice a day, and as an injection into the bresat muscle, once a day. Use a 22 gauge needle, and inject only 1/4 inch into breast muscle, alternating sides daily. Egg withdrawal time is 1 days for oral Tylan and 7 days for the injectable.

I have 4 pullets that are sneezing, raleing and runny nose. I am doing the injection of Tylan 50, they will lay there and not move if you place them on their back or on their side. I also put a wash cloth over their head, makes them sleepy.

Read post 3 for dosage. Some respiratory diseases are mycoplasma or bacterial which can respond to antibiotics, but if it is viral, the disease will have to run it's course over several weeks. There is always a danger of air sacculitis from E.coli or other bacteria which is a secondary infection, and more serious.

Thank you I started yesterday with 1/2 cc. I was confused because one person said two shots a day and other posts said one each day.

So After 5 days and they are not better what do I do? We don't have a chicken vet up here.

Welcome to BYC! If you don't see improvement in three days you might want to try a different antibiotic.

If Tylan doesn't work you could try Baytril (enrofloxacin), but it's banned for use in poultry, so you should research that first.
