I think I heard of some strange creature resembling that in the news the other day.

Hello Purple Chicken. Here is a poem that I just wrote. It's not so much about Nasty Silkies as it is about a Nasty lil trick my Silkies played on me.

I have some Silkies, not one, but two
One is jet black, the other looks blue

Upon their arrival, only three days old
“They will grow fast” is what I was told

No bigger than marshmallows, covered in down
Precious tiny beings, no greater joy have I found

Daily they were bigger, as they grew and grew
Eight weeks later, no idea what I would do

I searched endless books, finally choosing some plans
And built a great coop, for my two biggest fans

Each day for months I would clean, water and feed
For what I now consider the Superior breed

Time past quickly as I awaited the day
My girls would give thanks and eggs they would lay

Then one morning, it happened I swear
So much commotion, I jumped out of my chair

Knowing full well, of the first egg she would be proud
No idea either of my girls, could be this loud

I looked in the nests and what did I see?
It was my two Silkie hens, crowing at me

All of the months prior as I cleaned up their pooh
Rather than cackles and clucks, It’s now Cock-a-doodle-doos!!

I have a hatchery black & blue silkie that I got from MPC - total PQ. I had ordered them as pullets, but both crowed just like yours in your poem. *sigh* The black one is the ugliest one to me - my brother jokes that his comb looks more like his brains are coming out of his head. I'll have to see if I can get a pic of him tonight and post it tomorrow to enter into the contest. But, your poem was wonderful!
