Ugly coop contest (hehe)

This was our first coop. We have since added on another coop with the next stall and just last week finished the other stall on the other side of the shop.

But look how ugly that first coop is! I pulled the stock gate closed at night and put the heavy door in front of it. We want to tear off the front and redo it.

The other 2 look much nicer. But that first coop started out as rabbit playpen and the poor chickens just got put in there.
Our chickens free range, that's why there isn't a run out front. I think I may add runs to the first 2 stalls in case I ever need separate pens.

I like your idea since you only have a few head .

Mine are in a COOP and RUN area that are totally attached to one anothe r. I can not free range in the city here , BUT kinda like it better this way , free ranging would only make me have to supervise and worry about predators . So they are protected 24/7

Edster951, my coop looks an awfully lot like yours, except smaller, and it was sound when we traded for it last year. It needs the tin tacked down in a couple places because it's pulling away. I haven't lost any birds yet, but a ferret could get in, so when we haul all the heavy tools back there to build our second coop, I'll have to do some extra work on this one. Right now my only window is just a hole cut in the tin with chicken wire stretched over it. I'd probably have lost a chicken to raccoons through there by now, except it abuts the goose pen, and no 'coon is stupid enough to shimmy between the coop and two-inch chicken wire with four angry geese on the other side pecking away at you. lol

I'll have to do something different with it this winter.

I know what you mean, Liz....we are in the city too (I'm not supposed to have them...which is why there are so few)...basic free-range for my guys means they run to the front porch and beg for handouts!
