I have a combination of rhode Island reds, barred rocks , Austrolorps , and I also have 8 bantams which we DO have in a separate area for them . REFUSE to mix this lil jewels with the large flock .

RUN is 12 x32 and DH has plans to enlarge that again . I guess we ALL know what that means huh ? MORE TO BE ADDED SOON ?

Oh , I almost forgot , I do have one of my black Austalorp hens that decided to go BROODY , ( AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS to break that cycle ) she was very determined and hard headed . PROVES that is a CAJUN HEN . and being I think its her 1st. time , I only put 4 eggs under her to hatch . OMG , I am gonna be a grand mother AGAIN . DAY 5 of sitting , so 16 days to GO . LOL

Here's mine, not pretty, but goes to show what you can do with xlarge pallets, old tin,old shipping boxes, lol. It's my hubbys' design, we just kept on adding to it. We even reused the nails when we were taking apart the pallets.
This is what we started out with 5 yrs ago & 6 chickens.

Ok Here's mine no laughing LOL. Mine are butted up to the wooden fence, Which came from the neighbor that was blown down from the last storm here.

Hubby, Son and I made this one today. I got the wood from the local saw mill for free. it's alot stronger then it looks,

3 more pens cross from the new one, The doors were made from the wooden fence from the neighbor.

OK, finally, here are my ugly coops (did i mention i have absolutely NO carpentry skills?

My retrofitted trampoline coop:

My homemade hoop coop

The quickie "turkey yard" pen I made over lunch hour one day (the hole in the barn wall was there -- I thought it made a brilliant in/out door!

This is an old corn crib building that the yard is attached to (at lower left).

Here is my famous hillbilly wheelbarrow-on-the-porch turkey nest:

Here is a cozy turkey nesting with her chicks inside the famous wheelbarrow nest -- they all loved this spot, and I could easily check up on them every time I went in and out the front door!

And last but not least, my moveable vinyl-tablecloth-covered homemade turkey poult tractor built for two.

By the way, all these coops have weathered severe thunderstorms and high winds and hail. Plus, they can all be dismantled.

And with the trampoline coop...

I was thinking...the birds are supposed to be *IN* the coop! LOL

I think we need a "best recycled coop" contest, or "best coops that used no nails"

Oh, yeah.... I forgot to explain that one family of turkeys gets to run free -- they are buddies with the family inside the trampoline pen, so they usually hang out next to it. That bad boy sitting up there has gotten huge!!
