Uhg, it's going to be one of those days...

Music. Loud, happy music. And sit down and take a break from time to time. And have a bottle of wine waiting for this evening!

Speaking as a mom with kids and dogs (currently there are 5 in the house--my MILs dogs are visiting as well as our own), I try to do a LITTLE something every day. Some days it's just keeping the kitchen & dining room table something close to cleaned off. Or I run the dust mop or the vacuum around real quick. It helped when the cats got kicked outside due to my son's allergies. I was awful tired of cat litter too. Have you tried putting the mats in front of the cat boxes to catch litter when they step out? They do help. Also a quick sweep once a day right in front of the litter boxes.

And oh yeah--my horse barn (well, run-in shed) is a mess too.

Good luck!

I have WHAT in my yard? :

NO snow for us but bitter cold and extremely windy. I keep looking at the property and seeing the millions of small branches that will need to be picked up. That and I swore that I was going to get the grape arbor trimmed this winter (You're supposed to do it in Jan) but of course I didn't.

Anyone know when you can/should trim forsythia?? I know it is good after the first bloom, but can I do it sooner?? I have the forsythia that ate Landenberg!

You can trim the forsythia about anytime, you just won't get as much bloom as you would have. If you don't mind that you can trim the puppy down to almost nothing and it will come right back.
One year the guy my DH hired to do lawn work cut mine clear to the ground with a chain saw...came right back. lol

I know some people think declawing cats is inhumane, but, I was forced to get my female done. I just love the fact that she cannot tear anything else up. Now.....my daughter's cat is staying with me for a while, and he is attempting to tear up both of my couches. So far, he has not started on the trim on the doors, but, it means he has to stay outside most of the time. I am so afraid that he is going to be hit by a car !

Why cant it load itself?

But I have learned lately that when I DO accomplish those dreaded chores and not put them off....then we reap 2 benefits ....
First off.....the dreaded chore is done! And 2nd...that great feeling of accomplishment

we have after it is done!!
So, one reaps 2 rewards from getting stuff done!!

New Years Resolution this year was a simple one :
JUST DO IT

Gonna make a sign and hang if over my monitor : JUST DO IT

Wow....it really IS going to be one of those days.

Ok, check list:

- The horse barn is clean.
- The coop has been tidied up and the birds fed and watered. Thought I had lost three turkeys only to find they were all crammed into the nest box and hissed at me like crazy....great, broody turkeys in February. I'll have to do something about that.
-The cat chair has been cleaned and mostly de-haired.
-The dry laundry has been put away and the wet stuff hung above the wood stove to dry.

Now comes the fun part. The couch slipcover was looking a bit dirty...you know, in the cracks etc stuff gathers. I decided to take it off and wash it. The I got to looking at the back and side cushions on the actual couch (I have the sort that are not attached to the couch) and saw that some have removable covers....well sort of. The two big covers are crammed with 'fluff'. I figured what the heck and promptly un-stuffed the covers and threw them into the wash. My bed is now piled high with cushion stuffing! The two seat covers have also been removed and thrown into the wash...darn thing is going to be cleaned one way or the other!

*Sigh, once you start!*

Unfortunately I'm the type that if there are things that need to be done I can't ignore them easily. It'll keep bugging me until it's been done. I can't curl up on the couch with a book because the couch is dirty, same thing with the bedroom...it need cleaning too.
Uhg.

Unfortunately, I AM one of those that can curl up on the couch and read a book, I knock off everything off the couch onto the floor first, then the couch is clean. LOL....

You all need this website.

It is awesome for us procrastinators and those of us who just cannot seem to find a place to start!

Oh and bring a box of kleenex, you will need it for the tears of complete laughter at this site!

I tried to sign up with flylady several times and never could get it to work! I took it as a sign that the universe knew that cleaning wasn't good for me!!

So far, got the kids bathroom scrubbed: toilet, tub sink and floor and baseboards on hand and knees! Proud of myself and completely grossed out by how dirty it was.

Got the living room vacuumed and straightened, including filling the wood box and cleaning up after that mess. And cleaning out the fire box.

Got the grocery shopping done and put away.

I'm wiped out and why exactly didn't the dishes load themselves?? I'm with mmtillman - I want a self loading and self unloading dishwasher! At this point I want one that actually cleans the dang dishes!

I have one of those robot vacuums. If only it would empty it's own bin, clean the long dog hairs from it's wheels and not require pre-sweeping...I might use it.

I tried something new today.
Instead of making my long long list this morning over coffee, I decided I'd make the list as I do it. (I am such a list maker).

So I swept first then wrote it down and checked it off! I know I'm not fooling anyone, but at the end of the day...everything on my list will be checked off
