I tried doing the gassing method earlier and I must of done it wrong as the chick was running around for about a minute until I decided to take it out. I'll try a few testers before I put it in I'd rather it be done quick

Our friends ducks escape from their garden into the canal, which is on other side of the wall and they return home every evening. You should probally keep them confined to your garden, until they learn where their home is, before letting them into the canal.

Thanks for the advice think I'll keep them in their run for a month or so see how that goes I can't seem to find the duck section

ok here's what I'm gonna do this evening I'm gonna investigate and unzip I will take pics I think I might dampen the others to is this a good idea?

It will do no harm to moisten them a tad but if they have pips try not to get water in the hole.

Oh no

Yes very frustrating but that's how the cookie crumbles I guess. Yes I will assist it if I need to but that's going against the grain for me. But I will give it a chance.
Yeah will get some pics of the new one, just waiting for it to come to the front of the incubator

Btw what humidity do you incubate at?I have a Brinsea Octagon 20 Advance and am trying the weighing method but I can't get my average weights on the right line. My eggs are consistently losing too much moisture. I've upped the humidity to 50% now to compensate but it seems far too high to me. I'm worried I'm drowning them.
What do you think?

I start at 35% and depending how the air cells look on the first candling I adjust accordingly. If they look too big I will up it to 45% until I next candle and reassess. I'm very bad and don't weigh any eggs, I just go on what the air cells tell me

First gosling look ok and is blundering around the incubator knocking all the eggs about. Second one appears to be starting a zip but it looks a bit odd

Just got a couple of pics (not very good ones!)

This is the zipper, it's been at about 45 minutes now and seems to be heading more upwards rather than round so I'm thinking it stuck Might have to help it out if it does not hurry up soon.
