Ohh wow, these are beautiful, such gorgeous colours - did you pose them like this on purpose to show the subtle contrast in colours? Either way, great shot.

I wish I could get them to pose on command! I'm glad you like them; although Gaila lacks the melanisers and lacing genes necessary to make her a good blue, I believe Reggie may have them as he is from blue breeding. They should make good offspring together; I'm particularly keen on the hens from this line as they show excellent production traits and a true blue egg.

I had the same thing happen on here and on another thread, and then one time it gave me a load of notifications all at once from a few days before, even though I'd already read them all! Several users have mentioned of not getting notifications too - obviously a bug or an error somewhere
I had it happen on the 'how many eggs did you get today' thread that I usually post on daily as well. i think what can also happen is if you get masses of notifications and you miss one that then stops you from getting any more from that thread and that is entirely possible my end!

Check this out. I have no idea why this is. They will come out if I'm there but go back in if I leave. I haven't noticed any predators. Its pretty secure in there.
Have you managed to get to the bottom of your birds unusual behaviour yet? I just wondered if you got any footage and also if your birds a back to their usual selves yet?

They seem to be back to their usual selves. I've had to send the camera back because it stopped working after one night! Bit of a bummer but all seems alright at the moment.

That’s good to hear they are back to normal :)

Poopy on the cam stopping working :hmm I can recommend a browning trail cam. We have had ours about 3 years now and it’s still working great, even with being out in all weathers. Good clear pics and picks the sound up well.

Looks like a good camera. I got the apeman h45, didn't realise it was cheap Chinese rubbish! I'm thinking of getting cctv around the house so I may just add a camera towards the coops and run.

That too is well worth the investment. We have five cameras up. All recorded on to hard drive with infrared so good night vision. Just can’t be too careful nowadays... only a few weeks ago the other half spotted a bloke breaking into a neighbours garage over the road to Nick his motorbikes. On that occasion the police did actually come out so the activity spooked them.

It's funny how these cameras seem to be used for capturing the two legged wildlife more than four legged!

Glad to hear they are settling down again, changes such as that can be such a worry. pain in the neck about the camera breaking, but here's hoping you won't need it after all.

I recently read an article about putting Vaseline on combs and wattles to prevent frostbite, does anyone know if this is correct or maybe have used this method yourselves and if so, does our winters warrant such a practice? We just got over three days of fierce rain and some hailstones, now we have frost and thin layer of ice some mornings, although not extreme I don't want to put my girls through unnecessary stress based on something I've read, however if I can find evidence of this working, obviously it will be worth doing it for them.
