UK Member Please Say HI

Something that doesn’t seem to quite register with many on this forum is I don’t keep chickens; I sort of live with them.:p:oops:
I hadn't realised that!!!

How did you do the polishing? We were seriously considering it but have finally (after 3 years!!) found tiles we like at a good price so we are going with them but may do that in the next project if I can work out how to do it without using all the hugely expensive options you find on the net for doing it. I'm convinced it doesn't need to be as complicated / expensive as they say!

I consider my chickens family! They do come visiting but I'm glad when they're gone! My three children probably create more mess than my chickens would. At least the hens don't leave food lying around!

Or clothes (dirty mud covered rugby ones for example!), plates (in bedrooms no matter how many times you tell them not to eat in their rooms), school bags, every tube etc all ove rthe bathroom bench, wet towels on floors......................................... I should stop!! :lau:lau

When we laid the floor (poured concrete) the floor was polished while damp with a polishing machine. Once it had dried (a couple of months later) I hand polished the floor with a fine grit sanding sponge. After this I applied a breathable concrete sealant (if your interested I can find the make for you)
I used to apply beeswax and hand polish but I don’t bother now because I discovered that chicken shit is mildly corrosive and I was wasting my time.
You can get concrete polishing machines (hired) It’s a rough dusty job.
I knew when I designed the building that I wanted concrete floors which I could chuck a bucket of water over and mop, pushing the excess water into the shower and down the drain. There is no shower tray. It’s like an Asian shower.
I also knew I would have chickens in the house and being able to keep the place clean without too much work was important.

People have dogs and cats in their houses. I've never found a flea here. Yep they make a mess, but it's easy to clean up and I've learn't so much just by being able to observe them at close range.

Ive been trying to sell my White Polkie trio but Facebook doesnt allow sale of chickens now. Not sure where people sell chickens now ?
Is everyone getting ready for the winter ? We had a pretty bad winter last year. I got lots of mixed corn in to give them energy.

That's weird, loads of my local selling sites on Facebook are still selling them. Do you keep getting your posts taken down and no warning given?

Well I think the ones that are for sale were posted before Facebook changed their policies about selling livestock on their site. I can mingle a sale sort of within a conversation but If I try to sell something I get `rejected, there are issues with your product`It looks like you're trying to sell an item that doesn't meet our policies. Common items we don't allow people to sell include animals, guns or illegal product.
I have them advertised on preloved but not sure if there is another place where people can sell or buy chickens.

Here I've bought all my chooks and eggs on Le Bon Coin which is the Gumtree equivalent over here - may be worth a look although I believe they are now owned by eBay so may not wash with them either.

How is your weather in the UK? It is stunning here this week with temps up to 20c :celebrate
