Hi Kim
Congrats on the final hatch result. That's certainly a huge improvement on the last one...did you ever hear back from Durham Hens? Shame about the one that didn't make it out of the shell. They look great.
No sign of anything happening with mine yet, but it should be today or tomorrow I think.....I really should keep better records! I'm pretty sure I set them 4 days after yours but it might have been 5.
Unfortunately we had another set back with Zak on Saturday morning when he totally refused to jump the same log he popped over beautifully on Friday, even though we were heading home. Tried to give him a lead over it multiple times with Archie but he was having none of it and of course Ian was livid! Yesterday it was back to the arena for more ground work and he started off by refusing to even step over a pole. I had my work cut out trying to think how to build up his confidence, whilst trying to cope with my own frustration and keep Ian from losing his temper completely. And it was far too hot to be running around in an arena with an uncooperative horse. Arrgh! Unfortunately it is going to take a lot of time and perseverance. I spent the early hours of this morning googling "training a horse to jump" and trawling through You Tube videos. Feeling a little more positive about it now, but I think my problems are going to be time scales....Ian needs him to hunt at least a few days this coming season.... controlling my frustration (no easy task) and Ian's scepticism about Natural Horsemanship. Don't think my horses are going to get a huge amount of attention in the near future!
Anyway, I must crack on.
Best wishes
Barbara
