UK Member Please Say HI

For me it's not rescuing them though :( They get them back to good health then turn them out in the wild where they can't fend for themselves as they have become so used to being fed rather hunting for food. As they can't hunt they wither away in a long slow death. Best thing is just put them out of their misery at the start rather than let them suffer a long slow death. I will get off my soap box now LOL.
Charlie shot one a couple of weeks ago with only three legs :/ It looked a very neat stump too so my thoughts are they have removed a damaged leg and let it go again. It went to defra for testing but still waiting to hear the results on the three legged beast.

Game fair sounds good :D More birds and some gundog events sounds good! Always good when you can keep the OH entertained :D

In our area some male foxes that are being trapped/shot are found to have been neutered. The suspicion is that they are being trapped in the city, neutered and then released in the countryside.

Hi Barbara :D
Hope your well and not too wet! Chucking it down here :(

That's very true on the foxes being trapped and neutered, from a very good source (I won't name them) it certainly happens on the quiet.

Have you been riding yet? All shoes on horses? Harry had his done a couple of weeks ago and I even have my appointment for next time for him to be done. It's very bizarre now having an organised farrier LOL!

Good news on my Pekin and Wyandottes. Sold all the Pekin pullets :yesss: A lovely lady from Scarborough came all the way down and took them. She also took one cockerel. Then I sold a pair of Wyandottes which has left me with 3 Pekin and 2 Wyandotte cockerels left which are going to a fella with a small holding this afternoon. He has a large free range flock so I'm hoping they fit in ok.
Shed will be empty then so I might accidentally slip some more eggs in the incubator, you know just one more for the road

Thank you :D Yes mine are mainly polish and I have hatched a few different ones this year too. Some sex linked Columbian black tails an Orpington and some Pekins oh and Wyandottes. Just rehomed the last of my cockerels today so back to all polish, one hybrid hen and my bizarre frizzle polish X hybrid hen that I hatched just to see what they would be like.

Thank you

Yes here is Mongy mongrel with her brothers. She is the bird at the back of the pic, she is tad bigger now and a bit more shabby looking as she is due her first adult molt anytime now.

I don't show my birds, I just keep them for pets, eggs and enjoyment :D If I'd known how much fun and rewarding keeping chicken were I would have started many more years ago.

Thanks and it sure is great taking care of them. Have you tried incubating and hatching? I find this a most enjoyable part of chicken rearing. This is Mongy when she hatched ~

You can't beat watching them emerge from the egg :love

She has to have got a great personality :) Yes I've already tried incubating and hatching. I have got a small incubator (16/17 chicken eggs) but I prefer to leave the dirty work to my bantams during the summer :) It's for sure that it's the best part of this hobby
