This is the zipper, it's been at about 45 minutes now and seems to be heading more upwards rather than round so I'm thinking it stuck :( Might have to help it out if it does not hurry up soon.

Yes I see what you mean about it heading upwards. I think I'd be tempted to help too. I lost a chick 6 weeks ago who had halfway zipped and then got stuck. It has started in the middle of the night and when I got up in the morning I tried to assist but was too late. It would have been a beautiful little'un too. :hit
Your first gosling is goooorgeous though!!:love

I've had a good look to see if there is anything I can do for this chick and it seems its worse than I thought. The leg isn't spayed it's broken and it's facing the opposite way with curled toes. I think the tub I tried was to big so going to try a smaller one. Really really don't want to do this but I expect the chick is in serious pain :( I'm going to do it tonight I can't keep it suffering any longer

Thank you, that's very kind. Especially as it's not the best pic in the world!
Yes #2 was stuck but it's out now :clap
Just finished the zip for it and it popped out. Goodness the shell was hard! But all blood and yolk were absorbed so it was ready.

Hi I'm from Farnham common in Buckinghamshire I don't have chickens but I have quails only just noticed this thread so thought I would say hi ! X :)

Hi there & welcome to thread!
That's a cool set up for your quail and I'm jealous of your omlet coop :love

Hooray! And well done for helping that one! I'm pleased it's ok.
Thanks for the humidity advice btw. I'm going to stick with the weighing method but keep a close eye on the air cell development too, like you mentioned. :thumbsup

Good evening everyone, hope all is well in the world of backyard chickens!
Quick question for anyone who knows anything about ducks; what breed is this? I rescued it from my next door neighbours garden, so naturally thought it must be a mallard, because they're the only wild ducks we have around us. But now it is getting bigger it seems to be turning white on its chest, and is getting white streaks down its eyes where a mallard would be brown...
The red photo is from when I rescued it three weeks ago, and the other photo was from this morning...grown at a remarkable rate!
Any ideas?? Ta! ^_^
