UK Member Please Say HI

Hello - I'm another new UK member, from Cheshire. I've just hatched 3 chicks and am in the process of trying to figure out if they're pullets or cockerels. I've had hens before, but never hatched my own chicks - it's been such a fun thing to do - I think I've become a little bit obsessed!

Looking forward to learning more from everyone here. :)

:welcome Also not a great fan of eBay eggs! Most of the eggs I've had from there are awful although I've had my favourite birds come from eBay eggs. Never had about 50% hatches from them. Good luck if something happens with the hatch (hopefully it doesn't) there's a great hatching thread on here that gives great advice :thumbsup

Hi and welcome from Southampton!
I agree it's fun but yes totally addictive...be warned!

@Yorkshire Coop any news on eggs 4, 5 and 6 yet?
I've found a quitter last night i think. Not much veining and an odd yellowy colour with moving blobs... :sick so I think I'm down to 4 eggs cooking now. :fl

Mmmm.. number 5 just hatched about an hour ago :clap
Number 4 (Malpositioned) is still not ready and I had scare yesterday when it pushed more on the pip and started bleeding. Often malpositioned ones can't absorb the yolk and blood due to their position so we will see with that one.
Number 6 not doing anything, it has not internally pipped and I think it's a dead in shell. Hoping this is going to be over soon as the incubator absolutely stinks! :sick

Well that's poop on the quitter :hityes the veins do start to break down when they quit. Good luck with the 4 left :fl

:celebrateYay on number 5!!
And I've my fingers crossed on the other two :fl
I'm having a tiny freak out about this weight loss thing as mine are consistently losing too much moisture no matter how I adjust the humidity. I'm on day 18 and I'm running out of time to sort it. I now have no idea if it's my calculations that are wrong (tho I've had second opinions and they seem to be right), if my incubator is incorrectly measuring humidity, or what's going on! I don't want to drown them all but I don't want them to hatch weak either! Aaaghh!:he

Yes these goslings are pretty stinky! It's dragged on too which has made it even worse :(

So gosling update ~ 4 and 5 have hatched. #5 I had to finish the zip for it and number #4 I had to totally help out  It's still alive but not quiet got it's navel closed over so it looks a bit messy :( I'm trying to keep it clean and :fl it makes it. #6 has no action.
