UK Member Please Say HI

I have had chickens for just over a year after rehoming ex-laying hens and I currently have 4 chickens but only 2 lay. They are only hybrid chickens raised for farms but I would like eventually to have special breeds.

I originally found BackYardChickens.com when googling information about treats our chickens can and can't have a refer to the list often.

I also have 4 cats which are frightened of the chickens so won't go near them!!

Some of my other hobbies include crochet, cross stiching, amateur dramatics and playing Rugby

I look forward to chatting with other chicken enthusiasts x x

Hi, welcome to BYC & the UK thread!

I too rehomed 3 ex commercial hens and they are great layers. Are you in Hull by any chance?

I wouldn't want this in my garden!

Apparently, and I might be wrong, but I heard that imported dried mealwoms are fed and grown on faeces.[/QUOTE]
The problem with mealworms is that in general, they are grown in China and they refuse to allow inspection of premises and will not say what they feed them....
