UK pigeon owners

k. Will the ones in the nest be ok?
I hope and expect they will. They are 10days old. Dad seems to be getting them fed but I am monitoring that jic I need to help feed them. I think I will begin weighing them daily to make sure.

Got a pigeon MIA! Let boomer out with the male that's been chasing after her. Well she came back he hasn't....yet! I messaged the previous owner to let them know he may be on his way back. If he does I'll pick him up tomorrow! Other than that things going ok. Babies due Any time from Monday! And I've had one of my neighbours young pigeons in with my chickens! They kept chasing it and it just jumped to one side! It was funny to watch. Kind of like bull fighting but with chickens!!!

You are going to be amazed to see those first babies grow!!:D
Don't be afraid to move mom briefly to check that you have live hatchlings. When they are due to hatch I am frequently peeking to see and have caught them pipping or zipping a few times. I'm not recommending this, I just couldn't help myself and it caused no harm.

If the chickens manage to corner the pigeon they will kill it. How's it going with your neighbor? Does he comment on your new loft?

I am not going to fly any pairs with eggs or feeding babies. After losing a hen with young in the nest, well, it's just always going to be the one you can least afford to lose. Luckily the babies are still being fed by dad.

I'm going to leave them be for now. But I will check them tomorrow. I have to order some rings for them. I think they have to be fitted by day eight. They do grow so quick I watched a video on there development and by day 6 they double in size!
I haven't spoken to my neighbour but he loft flies everyday. It's a shame but I think I burnt my bridges with him some time ago. We can be a funny bunch us Brits! I just hope my MIA hasn't got mixed up with his. It is banded though. I hoped it would follow boomer as he's been so desperate to pair with her, now she is just sat by the trap waiting for him.:(
I'm glad it wasn't one of the breeding pairs but in hindsight maybe one of those males would have returned.

Nations rise up against nations, and after a while,,,,, make up and become friends. Should be no different among neighbors..
Take this and visit him, since you both have a COMMON INTEREST. :thumbsup
Let bygones be like water under a bridge.:)

I may need to go see him. I saw a pigeon on my roof earlier and it looked like mine. It had a red and blue ring on and kept looking down at my loft. I rattled my can and it flew off with his pigeons. I could be wrong.
Is it possible for s pigeon to be depressed? Boomer hasn't been herself at all since he went AWOL. She has been sat at the entrance of the trap all day. Normally she sits on a perch opposite. Even the other male who normally chases everyone away from there couldn't shift her. I know it sounds silly, but I know when a bird looks unwell, but she looks like she is really heartbroken. :(
