I want them to be less bothered about me going on there. The parents don't seem to flap me as much now so that's good.

Not the best comparison but it's the unkempt blond hair that does it!

I've had a bit of a handling/inspection of the babies and I couldn't help but notice that it smells pretty bad around the nest bowls. Like really fishy:sick. Can I clean the bowls out and put them back in or is it nest to leave them until they start venturing out?
I couldn't help myself, I had to switch out the stinky, poopy nest first around banding time. Then for the next few says I would throw a fresh layer of pine shavings over prev nights poop. In a few more days they will be able to hike their butts over the edge and deposit the poop outside the nest bowl. What a relief!! :lau

I have extra bowls so I put clean shavings in another bowl and swapped it for the messy one.

Right ok! It's gonna happen as a sense of urgency! It's not pleasant! Got to be carefull with the babies though I didn't realise how squidgy they are!

You do NOT want your DW or neighbors to smell anything bad from your loft!
I find the RH here means poop doesn't dry as fast.
I have a solid floor so I scrape, and scrape, ... You have a tray under wire, correct?:D
Anyway there is less airflow in the nest boxes and bowls so i think they need more attention re cleanliness.

Even with the mesh floor I still have to scrape it. It doesn't all go through. And the area where you nest bowls are is a plyboard shelf. Even the perches that are sloped seem to have a good accumulation! I think I read somebody here called pigeons 'poop ninjas'! They weren't kidding!!:lau
