um, egglaying at 13 weeks?

One of my 13 week old pullets( a lot heavier than the rest) started displaying signs of egglaying?? I think, at least. She walks really weirdly but she's completely healthy, and her comb/wattles are pretty red. She's also tried to sit down in dirt piles and the nesting box multiple times. She digs and finds bits of grass to put around her as if she's preparing a nest. She sits like a hen.
This behavior started yesterday, and she's only 13 weeks! (I'm sure of her age because we raised her since she was a day old) The other 13-week old girls seem interested and keep on disturbing her. Is it possible that she's trying to lay an egg?

What breed is your chicken? I have an Austra White and there are lots of posts out there that they can start laying at 13 weeks. Mine hasn't yet but I'm watching for the signs you note above.

She might be thinking of it, but she might not actually lay for a bit longer.
Photo? Some breeds are earlier layers than others.

I'll try to get some photos later this afternoon. They're Buff orpingtons, and I heard that they start laying at about 5-6 months

If they're buff orps, no. She won't be laying yet.

My last BO's took 8 months to lay. Which is a bit longer than average.
You'll have to wait a bit longer.

OK, they're usually really quiet birds but the strange one just started clucking really loudly and it sounds like an eggsong. I'm confused because she's super young but she's showing the signs.

13 weeks is too early.
You've got more weeks to wait.

The majority of mine were around 24 weeks.

I would be shocked if she laid this early. I have production birds and some of them still arent laying at 21 weeks. No way will an actual buff orpington lay at 13 weeks.
