Hi, I’ve had 3 ducklings hatch out, all happy and healthy. Now I have this little one, umbilical cord still attached. He was wriggling like mad in the shell and had been pipping for 48 hrs prior so we did have to help him out, I think we made the wrong decision and I feel awful, so he is now still attached to the egg, yolk sack seems to be absorbed. How can I help him?!

Wet the umbilical area with coconut oil or vegetable oil with a qtip. They need a little extra time when they are helped out of the shell. It would help if you also get a qtip moistened with water and gently scrub off the junk off it's eyes.
After a couple hours after the oil if its not free from the egg umbilical you will need to cut it, and hold a dry paper towel on it in to stop any bleeding.

Took your advice, lt was kicking like mad to try get out, eventually snipped the umbilical cord, luckily there was no blood, seems to be trying to move round a little more! Just hoping for the best. Thank you for your advice!
